There used to be a chinese (?) MMO that some anon told me about. In that game, players would get buffs that made them do more damage the less life they had, percentage-wise. So a healer's job wasn't to full-heal, but to keep the DPS at specific life thresholds. The meta was so skill intensive that healers were separated into categories like 30%er, 10%er, etc and there were raids so hard that you needed a few 10%er healers to manage them.

Does anyone remember this game?

Or can any indie dev put a mechanic like that in his next game? It sounds fucking awesome.

Yeah, and that is exactly why it sounds cool. Only people with very high skill would be 10%ers or even fucking 1%ers, and healers biting off more than they can chew only to somehow pull through would be incredibly hype moments. Or imagine a 30%er having to go down to 10% because the situation calls for it, that would make you feel like Son Goku going kaioken x20 against Frieza.
