BoTW is the first modern zelda I've had absolutely no interest in picking up at all. Has nothing I looked forward to in a zelda title. Regardless of polish, open world sandbox games are almost always trash, and BoTW isn't an exception.

I played Zelda games for dungeons and boss encounters. BoTW has neither. 4 mini-dungeons with the same aesthetics, and 4 bosses with the same aesthetics.

Souls series has universally surpassed Zelda in my opinion. BoTW is a damn good sandbox game, but it's nothing I would enjoy. I'd see it as a slog with no real high points. Can't justify spending 50 bucks for a wiiu copy, let alone 350 for a new console and the game.

Any with a point. There is so little actual content. It's a big pretty world where you just fight bobkoblins or whatever over and over on your way to shrines that take 2 minutes each. That's it.

Or I assume since I lost interest when the game gave me 12 pictures and told me to go stand on them. After finding 1 I realized it was boring as a motherfuck and haven't gone back.

They did great dropping the handholding but goddamn there is nothing to do unless you like walking.

Fuck no, SS was the worst zelda title.
Couldn't even get myself to finish it as it was so bad.
The constant resetting of handholding nanny Fi and the constant repetition and rehashing of scenarios made it a fucking chore to play.
It wasn't fun, it certainly wasn't good, it was just plain shit.

I thought SS was fun as fuck on launch and is the only zelda title I played through multiple times for the fun factor alone. It doesnt have any slogs or parts where the game gets grindy, and the level design is really good.

The world is incredibly streamlined, but that's to allow the devs to create interesting puzzles and overworld design that strongly resembles dungeon content, which is easily Zelda's strongest point.

SS took everything I liked about zelda and amped it to 11.

BoTW stripped everything I loved about zelda away, and while it's a good game, I'm not going to buy it.

Fi spam was annoying as fuck, but you could easily just ignore her. Unless I remember wrong, I dont think she offers tips/handholding unless you talk to her, so I just never talked to her.

The only spam I got was to go to X place when I turned it on. It was effectively a 'here's your objective, fucktard' que, not a 'here's how you do this puzzle'.

The annoyance of Fi is heavily depenant on your play paterns. It didnt bother me at all because I would always dedicate an hour or 2 to completing a story segment, either the dungeon leadup or the dungeon itself would be a play session for me. I can see how Fi would be frustrating for a player who takes more frequent or less patterned breaks.

It's reasonable for basically anyone. If nothing else, WoW has taught me how to manage my gaming time. You can make a lot out of 2 hours a night, and that's not a huge time investment.
