Why did the save menu label the area as the Illusion World (or something to that effect, I accidentally overwrote the save already)? It's sort of depressing that you go from a powerhouse group in Sky to the weaklings in Cold Steel. People make fun of the "holding back" trope, but it's much more egregious in Cold Steel. At least in Sky, you get to the point where your party can evenly match Ouroboros. So when you win a fight, you actually won plotwise as well.

Even if you ignore all the people who team up with you in Sky, Estelle started out far stronger than most in Class VII. Not to mention Joshua who's an Enforcer.

Of course not. In fact, the entire last act of CS3 will just be a boss rush. Each fight ends after exactly 10 real time minutes and they are unwinnable because each time a boss' health bar is depleted they hold back a little less.
After ten minutes of each fight a different ally shows up to help you. You do not participate in the fight. You continue with the party you do not like at all because they're a bunch of boring, flat, one dimensional little shits that have no fucking place in the story or goddamn established world instead of playing as any of the established characters you actually like from previous games as they defeat the bosses you couldn't.

Julia gets retooled between SC and 3rd. In SC she was a somewhat bulky swordfighter who wasn't quite as strong as Zin/Agate/Mueller in exchange for better art lines and Estelle-tier ATS. In the 3rd, her bulk goes down to roughly that of Schera's -- but in return, she gains a great deal of ATS, the ability to attack twice during Chain Attacks, and the ability to cheat death with Mirageberg 2.

She's still a relatively mediocre party member but she can put in work if she needs to.

Looks like 3rd should end up selling about as much as SC did at the end of the day. Good to know there's a clear consistent demand out there for Trails games on steam.

Now the only question is whether or not the Cold Steel PC port can pull in the weeb crowd that buys games in larger numbers. If so, then the sky's the limit, and it's hard to see how Crossbell doesn't become more likely as well.
