>>

Holy shit, why is your game so dark?
>>

"Atmospheric" SweetFX preset, gives the game an even darker look which I enjoy

its not, it's barely worth a second playthrough, stop being brainwashed by the /v/ hivemind

Quick question: does the unofficial patch (plus) offer some way to skip the sewers and just go straight to the Nosferatu warrens?
>>
>>376336625
Yes, there's a hatch "hidden" somewhere in the starting area with a hacking check that let's you skip a good chunk of the sewers.
>>
>>376335218
atmosphere, acting and writing
>>376336605
Sorry anon, I've been in love with this game since it came out, you can't stop me from liking something you don't like. Go play Skyrim like a good goy.
>>
>>376336743

Oh thank fuck, I can't stand to go through all that bullshit. I'll be on the lookout for that then. Thanks.
>>
>>376336625
Yes, there's a door which you can hack or maybe also lockpick that takes you to a single smaller section where you fight a couple of the bigger Tzimisce things and then you just jump off to the Nosferatu hideout.
>>
>>376336625
Just noclip them if it's that much of a problem.

this
shilling this game on /v/ is just memeing by now
>>
>>376336625
Not entirely skipping it but a decent amount. That said though, the plus version also makes the sewers like ten times more bullshit and the section you don't get to skip is the latter end where the game throws the hard enemies at you. Just keep that in mind.
>>
>>376337893

Noclip it is.
>>
>>376337893
>the section you don't get to skip is the latter end where the game throws the hard enemies at you
There's only a couple of them though, shouldn't be hard if your character has any decent combat skills.

I tried all the mods available a few years ago. Antitribu wasn't out but I'm not too keen on it.

I remember the physical pain I felt when realizing how shitty Clan Quest Mod was. Holy fuck. At least it had a cool boss fight for Brujahs, even if it made no fucking sense.

I can't imagine antitribu is much better.

>>376340308

NA.

I heard that the Dark Ages ones were quite a bit better, but... I dunno. I can't imagine they'd be -great-, nor anywhere near the fun I had playing VTM.

It all pales in comparison, dudes.
>>
>>376340735

>NA

Just my kind of luck. I'm looking to find a group that might accept a newbie to VtM, teach me the ropes on how to play and such, but every time I ask, they're all from some non-European place, with too much difference in timezones.

>nor anywhere near the fun I had playing VTM.

I was talking about the Dark Age novels, not the RPG books.
>>
Blood don't grow on trees!
>>

There was a European group running a campaign in Scotland that was newbie friendly, a few months ago. Post in VtMB threads, I'm sure you'll run into them.

There have been a few vampire games since and they've generally been subpar at best. VtM isn't good just because it has vampires and Bloodlines wasn't good just because it was VtM.
>>
>>376344316

>a few years ago

Really? What made you think that? The only vampire-related thing I can think of in the past few years is True Blood and that show is shit.
>>
>>376344507
>does not have much going for it in terms of replayability
Huh? Even if you just replay as a malkavian or nosferatu, shit's different as fuck.
>>
>>376344213
Vampires can spend blood to make their parts fully working. Well, except for the actual reproduction, since their fluids are blood.
>>

I've tried malkavian, lost interest pretty quickly. I still have fond memories of the game though, maybe I'll get in the proper mood for a replay in a few years.
>>
>>376344213
They can spend blood points to reactivate/mimic basically any physiological function their bodies used to have. They can sweat, cry, and get erections/lubricate if they want to. It just won't go any further than that.

I assume they sucked each other fueling blood to the other while having sex or something like that,
>>
>>376345186

What a coincidence, an ex of mine also made me watch that shit too. But she at least grew to hate the fucking thing and about the only character she liked was that older blonde vampire, Pam. Still a shit show though. I hear the books it was based on are even worse. Like Mercy Thompson Skinwalker worse.
>>
>>376345289
Yeah, definitely shouldn't be replaying it straight away, come back in a couple years with a fresh perspective, it's much better then.

It's dialogue and character heavy game. Do you like games with a lot of dialogue? Like the original fallouts or New Vegas? It's kinda like that. Definitely nothing like Fallout 3/4 or Skyrim. It's also not open world, much more focused and bleeds atmosphere. But its main focus is the setting and characters, so if you're not into that kind of thing, then it might not be for you. I say give it a try.

After Twilight there was a huge influx of vampire novels in the YA and romance genres.
Couldn't walk into a book store without seeing shelves lined with them by dozens of different authors.
Dystopian fiction took over after Hunger Games got popular.

It's a lot like Deus Ex. Characters, interactions and quest progression are similar to Pillars of Eternity/Baldurs Gate too, if you played that.

But you can play is an FPS or go melee or talk your way out of most things.

Also here's a guide.
Keep in mind that Wesp went crazy recently and started changing/adding a bunch of weird shit to the game so I recommend playing it without the "restored content" first.

That book was fucking awful. Can't believe they retconned the taxi driver for it.

>Caine chilling in Kaymakli forever or whatever, sending out "shades" or some stupid shit like that, retconning any of his appearances prior

>That awful fight between Lucita and Lasombra-Moncada, destroying it by crying and sacrificing herself
>"Hey Beckett, I was Caine all along! LOL see ya, enjoy your last few weeks of life"

It ranks low on the shitty scale for VTM books (they're all awful), and the video game ties weren't as shoehorned as the Brujah Clanbook, with Cristof literally tagging along with some Brujahs in a car with his sword and everything, whining about his beloved, but holy shit.
