Apparently the original discussion at camelot/nintendo about Dark Dawn started after made the "Solar Soothsayer" leak like 10 years ago, so this fake drumming up attention might result in a least a passing glance.

That said, Golden Sun is dead. The gap between GS1 and GS2 was one year. Kids played it when they were in middle school on their Game Boy Advances. Seven years later DD came out and those same kids, now in college, played the game on their DS at the height of the 4/5th gen pokemania. Everyone had a DS anyways so they just picked up golden sun, "that game from my childhood". The problem is seven years have passed. Most of these people are adult normies now with jobs and kids and they only play games on their iphone, if that. They aren't going to run out and buy a switch to play "that game from my childhood". Meanwhile children, Nintendo's actual target demographic, are going to look at this game and say "who are these characters and what is this story?" and not buy the game. Godlen Sun is dead and Dark Dawn is going to forever end on a cliffhanger.

If I can commend one thing from Dark Dawn, it's at least that it managed to avoid some traps JRPGs fall into when they jump from sprites to 3D. Primarily that seeing 3D models moving in action can tend to take more time than seeing sprites swap simple frames and bounce around, but the pacing of battle was hardly hurt at all by this in Dark Dawn. I'd say the only thing that did drag on for longer were the summons, but you can even skip those animations like the originals, and even still, those looked really fucking good for being a DS game.

People judge too hard on Dark Dawn. While there were things that really detracted my joy of playing it (questionable plot points, hand holding, points of no return, unnecessary dialogue to explain the obvious are a few), that doesn't mean I completely hated it either. The music was still enjoyable, the graphics were impressive for what it was and in which console it was released in. Shame it's kind of treated as the black sheep (with reason, but plenty of times, people often overreacted).

Isaac's assist trophy was such a fucking lost opportunity, it's like they played the game for the first 10 minutes and concluded the magic in the GS universe is all about conjuring literal giant, visible gloved hands.
