Mainline Mario games are the only series I can think of with this great of a track record. Going all the way back to 1985, the worst one was Sunshine and even that was an 8.5/10

Protip, there has never been a mainline Mario game with an aggregate score of less than 90/100. Almost all of them have been universally praised. Odyssey is going to be Mario 64 redux so it'll get 100/100 easily.

literally Miyamoto admitted twice that he made Course Clear 3D Mario casual as fuck due to the Wii generation and Sunshine was pretty difficult for a typical Mario player

clearly Odyssey will rebuild that wall once again for Sandbox 3D
