Every media except for DR2 has been mediocre or worse.
The first game cases were so easy that I was able to guess the killer within the first 5 minutes of each case. It also didn't help that it probably has one of the worse stories I've ever witness in a game.
Had I known about the hope vs despair shit from the beginning, I would have never bothered with the series.

No, Danganronpa despite having had 3 games can't have a main plot worth shit, most people remember it for individual cases but whenever they rank the cases the most plot important final cases are at the bottom.

SDR2's 5th case was the peak of the series.

I still love all of them

I would put Zero Escape before Danganronpa, but after the last game maybe not. The big difference is that Danganronpa is over the top and silly and doesn't try to hide and so it's easier to swallow ridiculous and dumb twists. Zero escape is presented as a serious series but is stupid.

Hajime was literally an embodiment of "The supreme everything", he has all right to go Super Kibou at the end of the game. Hell, the only reason he went all 11/10 was because he realized that he was literally the only thing capable of saving the world and needed everybody's hope to be with him.

I wouldn't be mad if we weren't made to expect insanity and simply got to see it displayed one scene after another. I wanted to see Junko just talk the cast into a frenzy and break them all, just like she did the student council. But no. We fucking get a normalized "She just brainwashed the right targets and massacred the rest" shit ending. We didn't even get to see the massacres and genocides by Ultimate Despair either. Kodaka was a mistake, Uchi was a mistake, video games were a mistake.

Don't forget about Danganronpa actually being more realistic (physically) and grounded than any Zero Escape game.
I expected ZE games to have good stories, but they're full of literal pseudo-science which acts as basically a magical way to make anything possible, plot-wise.
There can be no tension or danger or lethality when you can save everyone with lel magic
