Blue shells are fine because you can see them on the map and have plenty of time to think or just get a good enough lead to not be affected.

Why do people play Mario Kart? I used to play MK64 a shitton as a kid. Played Double Dash a fair bit with friends in School. Played MK Wii with friends. Even bought MK8's Wii U release on launch day, but I cannot stand to play these games anymore. The skill ceiling is incredibly low, and no matter how well you play, you really don't have much control over how you'll place the majority of the time. People will say "git gud" but you can only get so good at Mario Kart. The item balance is always fucked. I get tired of getting railed up the ass nearly every race and stop playing after a couple weeks.

You're playing the game wrong if you're sprinting to a huge lead in 1st every game. The game is meant to have players packed somewhat closely, so you can capitalize on others getting blue shelled and whatnot

Getting out to 1st with a big lead serves no purpose other than increasing the odds the game is going to fuck you over to rebalance on the last lap (ie blue shell + 2nd place getting 3 red shells, etc)
