I didn't mind Makoto's so much, it was "about" her friend, sure. But primarily it was about showing Makoto struggling/failing to deal with actual society and finally getting some form of grips with it at the end.

She's actually sort'a like Futaba in that they're both socially awkward. Obviously Futaba is far more extreme, but Makoto is trying to learn not to be a robot and that's where things like chasing a girl through the red light district and going on a double date come in.

Have Ann cast the attack down debuff/heal. Don't bother using magic on him and just use physical skills. I think I used ROOJI to steal the crown and had the cat heal. Either way, he was the hardest boss for me on hard since you have limited resources that early in the game.
