Unlike a fighting game like Street Fighter, most mechanics are easily visible from the outset, or highlighted even in your choices of weapons or fighters, which might make the game come off as simplistic and shallow because everything you need to learn everything that's there is pretty clearly shown off.

You're not learning the motion time of moves by practicing them over and over so you know how long they last and how much of an opening you're left with - you can see it quite visibly with your arms extending and retracting so that's much simpler.

You're not figuring out which attacks have priority between characters because the choice of weapons and fighters makes it really clear what attacks take priority, and heading off an opponent's attack via punching it with your own arm before it hits is a viable tactic, as well as breaking through attacks if their arm is of certain types, like the Tribolt which hits wide and is good for cover, but easily broken through.

You're not having to keep track of some hidden statistic in your head about if one of your arms is about to fall to the ground, limp, or how long it'll take to recover, because the game will show you a little yellow exclamation mark caution sign with the yellow leaking out as you're in that vulnerable state and as you get closer to recovery.

Heck, just look at Helix's introduction video. There's a high level technique for completely avoiding all damage from a super with this character in particular shown off because we know that the timing for those movements is essential and that it's not just automatic.
