don't starve together is fun with friends until everyone gets bored as soon as winter starts.

It's good, but it's the kind of game that has you consulting a wiki every other minute unless you like learning the hard way and wasting hours of time to perma-death.
Fighting well makes some things trivial and once you get the basics down, all that doesn't kill you will only annoy you until you quit.

overall underappreciated gem that slipped through the cracks because it came before the indie craze

Dont starve is OK, but the multiplayer is so much better in my opinion.

you can have a full, very optimized home base before day 15 without much effort

it would be good if the combat wasn't so shitty
