I'm playing through W3 for a second time to romance Yen instead of Triss, and as the story progressed I was beginning to understand her appeal, until I asked her about the Red Riders, and why she didn't look for Geralt. Basically all her answers were "I assumed you'd be fine so I didn't do anything".
Admittedly, I haven't read much of the books (am at the part of Last Wish where Geralt first meets Yen) or played the other games (going to after this playthrough), I'm sure there's plenty of times Yen is a decent person but that instance alone tells me she just doesn't care nearly as much about Geralt as he does for her. Triss just feels like a warmer person overall.
