The radio said "No, John. You are the demons."
And then, John was a Zombie.

When Johannes guides you through it, he makes an error in his senility that you can't recover from, and the seal explodes, as the thirteen Daemon Lords and their armies completely bisect the continent and force you to kill everyone on the continent again, but now they're daemons.
