It's because they ported the PS3 version to Switch instead of the PS4/PC version. It's the PS3 version running at 1080p. A graphically downgraded port of the PS4/PC version would have actually looked a lot better and also would probably have been easier to develop. My guess is they had a code fork for the PS3 build to the Vita version running on ARM and because PS3 has an nvidia GPU and Vita has an ARM CPU they built off of these to make a fork for switch believing it was the past of least resistance to get something out for launch.

Between that and removal of Street Pass I really am sadden by what they took out. I mean I get both in a way. Miiverse never really worked as well as Nintendo hoped it would and now with just integrating social media there's really no need for it now. And as for Street Pass guess they chose not to keep it because of battery life.
