I genuinely don't understand the mindset of playing videogames for the story. If videogames had good stories then fine but even the best videogame stories are extremely mediocre and it's so far removed from what a videogame is supposed to be about. It's like buying a CD for album art, you're kind of missing the point.

I really only like cooperative shit now. I'm playing terarria with two friends and replaying DaS. The first couple times I got invaded it was just people with the same soul level and gear enhanced 15 levels higher than me so now I just disconnect.
The great stories I remember from any game are playing it with bros or people I just met, not pvp or competitive play. It's doing something difficult together someone, meeting some dude while levelling and getting a party and then taking like two and a half ours to full clear Mauradon for the first time for all of us. That's the shit that sticks out as a great story I remember years later.
