Can't wait for the new Stellaris patch

How much roleplaying is there in stellaris? What i mean is how much enjoyment can you get from being immersed in the setting and play in the distinct way you imagine that your faction should play. I assume that there is little in terms of actual characters in the game.

Not really. There are optimised strategies in a lot of them, but you can play them for fun's sake by aiming for some of the weirder achievements or by setting your own goals.

If you're talking about Stellaris only, then sure. I think the only fun way to play Stellaris is as a warfaring nation like "muh empire of man" or some shit, because peaceful approaches in that game are dumb.

Diplomacy in EU4 and CK2, arguably their other two hyper popular games, is fine though.

The worst offender is HOI4. It's a great game to introduce people to "grand strategy", and can be pretty fun for multiplayer I guess but holy shit is it barebones.
I guess it makes sense because it's all set over essentially one big war, but still.

Less than any 4X game I've ever played.
The anomaly stuff just gets in the way after your first playthrough. They're very repetitive and you will have experience most of them the first time around.
