Yeah. Legion did a lot right but it did the actual day to day play very poorly. I think they are afraid of just letting people have a day or two without things they have to do. I would prefer if they just handed me a bunch of weekly quests and I could do them as I see fit each week to progress. Then I could do them on my own time, and use the free moments to run old raids, collect transmogs and mounts, run mythic dungeons for fun, so on. Right now it just feels like work.

I like hots characters more. There is less on micro, more on actual fighting, and each character is usually given a gimmick that makes them notably unique from one another.

I think it's mainly frustration because they are focused more on mechanics. I play all 3 roles fairly regularly and I will admit paying attenting to raid mechanics is harder on the other roles because they are more focused on other jobs. Raid mechanic reaction is a healer's job though, so they are more likely to notice first, and think it's obvious. HOTS is seeing a surge because people are finally giving it a chance. The average wait time to get into a game is literally instantaneous whereas it takes upwards of 5 minutes to get into a game in Overwatch.

Tanking depends heavily on the class. In terms of modern wow, a tank like Warrior is boring as shit because it's all stacking resistances and face tanking.
Something like Demon Hunter is more fun, where the entire this is balancing moves to maximise and not waste hp regen, and using longer cooldowns to subsidize the regen. That and lots of mobility and aoe.

Acknowledgement and appreciation are not my goals for supporting, however. They're nice, I'm human, I like being appreciated, but that's not my motivation to heal. It's fun and I really enjoy a playstyle that enables or empowers others.

Only thing I'd enjoy playing more than a healer is an offensive support/buffer/debuffer archetype, but they're extremely rare in games.

I have two basic questions about how HotS handles experience if anybody can help me ITT

First, is it better to keep your team spread out on each lane so you can get all the XP soak, or should you clump up a lot so teamfights go easier? Usually if I see an empty lane I try to go to it to get the XP but I'm not sure it's ideal

Second, if I have I use an ability with universal range to kill an enemy or leave a summon to kill minions and go somewhere else, do I still get the XP? Or does it not count because I'm too far away?

Aren't they in the middle of remaking TSW? I think some of the levels had really great atmosphere but the enemy variety was way too small when you were in those shitty filler levels. Like forest stretching out endlessly in every direction and you know every 10 steps you're going to get slowed by ak'kab totems or jumped by wendigos. And it's a real shame that all your active skills are identical throughout most of the trees, it felt like the only reason to ever branch out into different weapons was so you could pick up passives.

It's important that someone is around to kill the enemies but you don't have to be there non-stop. Like Xul himself is really good at clearing minion waves so he can cover 2 lanes while 3 of your team mates are free to gank all game long. If you use global abilities to kill enemies you'll get experience, Ragnaros' lava wave gives you like half a bar every time you cast it. Your summons will only give exp if they get the killing blow on an enemy. So Azmodan's general of hell usually isn't going to get you any extra exp unless you get the talent for him to cast smite. Also mercenaries never give you any exp except the teamwide exp you get whenever an enemy structure dies.

But they got lazy and, after some point, it's a class built for katars. So by going daggers, you end up hitting maybe twice as fast as katars, but dealing 1/10th of the damage, and without having the katar skill tree (iirc there was no dagger tree).

Structures would be the two towers and the fort. The healing fountain doesn't give exp but it means they're forced to go all the way back to base if they're missing hp. Walls don't give exp and it really depends on who you are as to whether you should blow them up or not. Characters like Kharazam, Illidan, or Kerrigan can use them to escape in a pinch, but It blocks dudes like Stitches, Nova, and Artanis. People don't really think about them but the side walls have way, way less HP than the main one. There are cases where it's way faster to just break through a side wall and attack the fort head on than to bother with the main defenses.

Nah dude, Ice Pick is pretty fucking broken, it changes the way your damage is effected by your targets def.

Normally your damage is reduced by a % equal to their hard def and then reduced by a flat number equal to their soft (vit) def
If you have an Ice Pick equipped however, instead your damage is modified by multiplying it by (hard def + soft def) / 100.

Basically the counter to Ice Pick in PvP is to not use vit as a dump stat, but then you have no health, and since weapon switching in the middle of combat is incredibly easy in RO, trying to counter an Ice Pick that way just ends with you getting wrecked faster by normal weapons.
And then in PvE, tough enemies of course have tons of def so it's really strong there too

Did it? I'm interested in playing again with my friends since they won't have to pay $15 to try it out.
As an aside I really like the way armor works, with a bunch of magical trinkets and ash markings. Between missions it's fun to go shopping in london, put together a new outfit for the next area you're playing through, or hunt achivements to unlock rare clothes.
