Man, I remember playing MK7 on this forum. I'm liking 8D so far but from what I've seen online play is a lot more... volatile and hectic than 7. And 7 was already a hell of a lot more hectic than DS (never played Wii).

Is speed still the most important stat?

So, the list of "not that obvious changes" between Wii U to switch, and some may not even be the game as we get into it so:

>There is a more complex speed effect
When you speed with mushrooms etc. especially in 200cc there is more complex effect for it on Switch, adds some DOF etc. Wii U is just a 2D overlay.
>Items are more frantic on Switch
This is not scientific, and is based on luck or whatever maybe, but Wii U's items seemed to be very rigid in ruling. Best example is all those times you are 5th or lower, going over item boxes before a change for a shortcut, and you could bet 100 dollars on you getting a mushroom, triple mushroom or star. So much so I would put all on duke even with item wheel lag and still come out as a winner. Not so much on Switch - Items are more random and balanced by double items. I am not even saying it's worse on switch, many would say switch is better for this and I am not for or against either - it's just different and not something IGN could tell you about.

Netcode is worse on switch enough said. OK; so switch has a lot more weird terpretation errors. Terp being what Mario Kart netcode relies. It seems to derp a lot on switch, and even Item Wheel lag seems more common, and worse on switch.
Granted: This might not be a technical issue on switch, but portability issue. It just might be way more players playing online with tethered 3g/4g connection, which ALWAYS plays like Hitler on nintendo games.

It feels like Lobby time/load times are faster on Wii U, even with disc against class 10 microSD - Which some autists deemed to be fastest on Switch.

For example, I keep reading both on here and multiple other places and articles that the Switch's WiFi is flaky for some but solid for others.

They think it might be fixed with some sort of firmware update soon.

Unrelated, but I actually get less comm errors while in dock mode than I do in handheld mode, for some odd reason.

It could be just flakier connections with opponents - all it takes is one player be on flaky 3G connection for the whole room get fucked and this was true for Wii U version too.

Given Switch's portability and choices for portable internet being tethering your Phone, more people might be doing this.

AFAIK USB LAN adapters are basically a LAN card, on a USB so that should circumvent any hardware of the switch itself - very much like how USB Sound Cards work.

So the problem might not be Switch hardware but coding etc.

The maps are still too big in MK8D if you wanted to have a 4 player battle or something small like that which makes 64, DD, and DS still the kings of battle mode for me.
