You're comparing two very different experiences

The Witcher 3 is a much more tailored experience because Geralt will always be Geralt and you can't do a whole lot to change the way the game plays through your build

Skyrim, on the other hand, is a less tailored but more varied experience, leaning much closer to the traditional RPG style of game

Overall, I prefer The Witcher 3 because I feel it's of higher quality but in the end it's hard to directly compare them

So this is about the characters and not the games? If it's a contest of power, LDB takes it by a landslide. If it's how they are written, Geralt wins due to being an actual character, not a shell for the player. (That's not to say there isn't lore surrounding the Dragonborn, just that it isn't enough to compete against a completely fleshed out character).

Skyrim I can see playing and replaying for 100s of hours even though it's just wandering around doing an odd quest here or there before getting bored, shelving the game for a month or so and starting it again

Witcher 3 you get a few playthroughs and it's mostly done

Both are RPG-lite, so neither.

I absolutely despise the combat in the Witcher series. The Elder Scrolls may just be about as simple as real-time combat gets, but at least it doesn't really frustrate me.

That, and I've always had a preference for games that allow me to create my own character, rather than to assume the identity of a pre-existing one. I'm one of those faggots who will spend hours trying to recreate their face because the novelty of seeing someone who vaguely resembles me running around the game world is one that I will never tire of.

I wouldn't even call it a landslide, LDB at his lore peak potential is stronger than anything we've seen in Witcher books or games short of O'dim and even then, LDB could possibly do everything that O'dim demonstrated.
As Clavicus Vile said, LDB power level is comparable to that of a Daedric princes half, possibly more.

i think skyrim is a pretty cool guy, eh kills dragons and doesn't afraid of anything.

w3 has a good story and nice world but once you've played it, its over. the lack of interaction with everything really hurts the world too unless you like lighting candles. can't sit or talk to npcs beyond running into them or having them grunt at you.

skyrim on the other hand has much more content and mods. cdpr's biggest mistake was no redkit.

Skyrim its combat is bad but the witcher 3s is worse. The quest markers are also pretty bad but no where near bad as the red foot prints. Skyrims world might be smaller but its has many more memorable locations and things to do and non of it is procedurally generated like in the witcher 3.

In the end Skyrim is a classic loved by everyone and The Witcher 3 is an openworld movie game that pseudo hipster call the greatest game of all time because CDPR spent 80 mil trying to convince them it was

Skyrim, I guess. It wins by default for at least having a form of gameplay that eventually works and can be sort of fun. Both fail in the RPG department. Both have absolutely shit stories and presentation of them. Both have overhyped expansions that fail to fix how utterly shit the vanilla experience is.
