What is your favorite NFS?
Why were the 2000's full of AWESOME racing games, and these days we get none? Am i just not looking hard enough?
I've had an arcade racing itch for years now, but everything i've seen looks like shit
What NFS game had the cool as fuck race tracks like the city with the giant aquarium and the underground temple ruins?
>>376161346
NU-NFS or NFS ?
>>376161125
>What is your favorite NFS?
IV, Hot Pursuit, or maybe Carbon.
>Why were the 2000's full of AWESOME racing games, and these days we get none?
You probably enjoyed Arcade racers more, which are far less popular nowadays compared to sims.
Beyond that:
>Lotta good racing devs have closed up shop - Criterion, Studio Liverpool, Evolution, etc.
>Some series have just been killed due to dwindling sales or the publisher not being interested in more - F Zero or Ridge Racer being examples
>Kart Racers as easy tie-in games fell out of vogue
>Costs of AAA titles have massively increased which has made a lot of genres shrink in output due to the dominance of the top series gobbling up all the possible sales
>Arcade ports no longer happen really and most new cabs never make it outside Japan, plus the 'greats' of the scene - Sega and Namco - have stopped putting out new racing games for it
You're most definitely not looking hard enough though, plenty of racing games still get made and you likely have a massive backlog to work through if you go look for it.

NFS 3
The PC version of 4 also included those tracks but they had to be unlocked first
>>376161125
nfsu2
>>376161618
>Carbon
That marked the beginning of my distaste for the series for me, and i'm not sure why. I was probably burnt out by the street racer aspect after Underground 1 and 2. They should've returned to exotic cars and diverse tracks like HP2 imo
NFS Most Wanted 2005

Same, I LOVED 3. Was crying after a mandatory doctor shot, mom took me to that rental place that existed back then, and we picked up 3. Amazing songs, tracks, and cars. El nino was amazing. The voice actor who voiced track descriptions was fun, and there were incar models of the dashboard, the game had a lot of details for its time.
First NFS: 3 Hot Pursuit
Favorite of old era (1994-2000): 3 Hot Pursuit, with Porsche Unleashed coming close
Favorite of Black Box Era (2002-2008): Underground, with Most Wanted and Hot Pursuit coming close
Favorite of modern era (2010-today): Hot Pursuit, runner-ups being Rivals and NFS2015

You'll love this then.

He's working on IV too.
The best racing game I've played is Blur. It's basically Mario Kart with real life cars and better graphics and hitting people with fireballs is super satisfying.
Also Distance, which is more of a survival driver, but you can set custom music and has a great workshop. Nothing's more exciting than listing to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnLAC5AJPuM while doing loops while electricity and giant buzz saws are flying around you.

Most Wanted (the one from PS2 era)
riders on the storm
riders on the storm
into this house we're born
into this world we're thrown
like a dog without a bone and actor out of role
riders on the storm
Late 90's/Early 2000's were amazing for racers of all kinds

most wanted was ps3 360 era
NFSU:Underground 2
literally perfect
Recommend me a modern arcade-like racer game that's not Mario Kart shit.
>>376163713
is forza horizon 3 arcade enough for you?

Arcade enough, but i'm not on Xbox.
Also, i don't want Trackmania tier arcade, HP2 is perfect ammount
>>376165079
It's far from trackmania. Also it's on PC. If you buy the game, you get both the xbox and pc version. It's also crossplay, so its very much alive.

I didnt try freeroam not interested

>>376166140
the only xbots remaining are american
I live on the east coast and dont have any issues
If you want to give offroad racing games a try, both Pure and Nail'd are very underratedmore people have heard of Pure, and Nail'd is something like five bucks or less on steam
>>376163620
but that soundtrack is fuckin garbage
>>376161125
>favorite NFS
Most Wanted without a doubt in my mind. And I agree about arcade racers, the last good ones were Burnout Paradise and Blur. Fuck these shitty racing sims that only Spics buy because they can race lambos
>>376161125
Here's something that I found out today
Of all the EA-made (no SMS) modern Need For Speed games (PS2 and on), only the ones with full CG intros and no gameplay clips are GOAT.
>Hot Pursuit 2
>Underground 1
>Most Wanted
>Hot Pursuit 2010
Fascinating, huh?
>>376164756
>A game that boasts about graphics
>cant render damage/crash physics
what a fucking joke
>>376163368
i liked this song but snoop dog's part was fucking shit, any other rapper would've been better
>>376167695
>Hot Pursuit 2010
>GOAT
>>376167938
Hot Pursuit Gaiden meaning different gameplay is implied, the result was weird but fun
>>376167765
>implying that's a decision left to the developers
>>376167765
All Forza games have car damage models, bumpers, lights, etc.
Just because most people turn it off in the options menu doesn't mean it's not in the game.
>>376167865
song is just for nostalgia, i never really enjoyed snoop dog part
>>376167765
>make a nice looking car
>wanting to see it smashed the fuck up
If it's an offroad mudding jeep or some shit sure why not or a demolition derby car but why the fuck would I want to see my 08 evo smashed to hell?

>1 fucking mention to Porsche
fucking plebs
>>376168301
It'll give you some motivation to actually not fucking crash and wallride your way to 1st place.
>>376167938
I had a lot of fun with HP2010 but it didn't feel like a NFS game in the slightest. Also the soundtrack was complete shit.
>>376167938
2010 is GOAT.
great line up, cars felt arcadey.
Some great tracks with day/night and different locales.
Open world for cruising when you wanted to.
The game looked fantastic for it's time with tons of little details.
It's a worthy successor to HP2.
>>376168628
This is a good point it's really burnout paradise 2, but EA wanted to move away from BO and towards revitalizing NFS, so they took the only good racing dev they had left (criterion) and had them change it.
>>376163368
Like a dog without a bone
Or a g without his chrome
Riders on the storm
>>376161618
Truth, I knew my distancing from racing games came from how they went away from the arcadey side of things.
