Rain is entirely useless as a mechanic, it just hinders traversal, the only thing you do for 85% of the game, for the sake of waiting

Game runs like shit, even post patch still has various dips in a lot of areas
The one thing you do most of the time, climb, is extremely slow and slightly better with climbing gear if you manage to get lucky enough to find it from random shrines you may or may not decide to do since its boring as fuck
No unique items gotten beyond the tutorial area, the gadgets you get are what you keep. This makes the game feel samey from the beginning where there is only so much you can do with the same gadgets throughout the game
The player never truly feels rewarded. There is no urgent matter, no purpose, no good story to motivate; it feels like an unfinished early access sandbox with next to no content

Weapon durability is shit, it works for some games, but not when most weapons break after individual encounters. It just makes you not want to enter combat to trade good weapons for bad ones. Its poorly thought out.

To be fair that's been the case with every Zelda, the bigger problem is the game doesn't really incentivize you to fight them (unless you REALLY care about getting every single armor upgrade), the combat isn't deep enough to be satisfying after the first 10 hours, and the level design is so open that avoiding everything is a simple affair.

I agree, but I also disagree. Lynel were pretty agressive despite being easy to avoid. THAT BEING SAID, in 3D Zelda, enemies were MUCH more agressive. Even those lizards in Dodongos, or the zombie which froze you. I felt more thretened there then anything in BoTW. Also, everything involving enemies and bosses took such a huge backseat to the point nothing felt really overcome by winning or taking a shitty weapon at the top of a fortress.

I think the climbing could have used a lot more depth. You basically learn all you need to know about climbing immediately. You hold up on the analog stick and hope you have enough stamina. If you don't have enough stamina you either give up or barely make it because you jumped at the last second. There's also the rain but that's just the same thing except instead of climbing normally you climb for a bit and then jump, climb for a bit and then jump, etc, and pray you have enough stamina. It's ALL about the stamina. The game never changes it up beyond that.

Considering how much climbing there is in the game, there's never really a point where the player is tested on it (except I guess that one mini-game, but again, stamina). You never have to climb in a divine beast or shrine, or on a boss. Imagine if you had to climb on Ganon. It would've been a rip-off of SotC but at least it would have been a culmination of all that fucking climbing you do in the rest of the game.

Only thing that is really killing the game for me is the draw distance. Im not expecting miracles, but whats the point of scouting out a location through zooming from afar. Seeing nothing of value, only to have chests, monsters etc pop up when you get 30yards away from said area. It makes scouting long distance useless for all but terrain navigation.

I played through TP and MM3d after BotW. They do things differently, and I value what BotW does well more than I value a good linear atmospheric adventure.

>Not enough emphasis on actually "crafting", i.e., making your own weapons and gear from dropped materials
>Fucking 900 Korok seeds with a literal shit reward for collecting all of them
>Enemy diversity was lacking
>Enemy interaction not fleshed out enough
>Not enough dungeons, excluding the shrines
>Blood Moon having to interrupt you every single fucking time (I know you can skip the cutscene, but it's still annoying -- literally "What a horrible night to have a curse" tier)
>Stamina drains too quickly even with it upgraded to max + additional stamina wheels gained from food items
>The three dragons sometimes don't spawn consistently, or at all, so you can't get their drops without resetting the system (they can get glitched and refuse to spawn, I've both read and experienced myself)
>No Guardian armor for your horse

Not going to complain about the armor upgrading since I'm used to grinding for stupid rare drops thanks to Monster Hunter, but there were some things that really bugged me. Still, the game is pretty solid for being Nintendo's first truly big and ambitious take on the series, and I have legitimately enjoyed it despite these problems.
