Why do people never finish the games they buy?

This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

>6,7% of all players finished God Eater R
>7,3% of all players finished Age of Mythologys campaign
>11,3% of all players killed the Moonlord in Terraria
>6,5% of all players finished the Serious Sam 3 campaign

All those games always had achievements so its not like people completed them before tracking got added.

Do you finish the games you start?
>>
*Note

Terraria did not always have achievements but it had achievements when Moonlord got added
>>
I noticed this myself with PS4/Vita trophies recently. Some games don't even have 100% on trophies like "start the game for the first time".

I don't finish every game I buy, because some just end up shit, but if I actually like the game of course I'll finish it.
>>
>beat the game
>"boosh" Rare Achievment! 5.6% of players got this
>>
Only 17% of people that bought Nier;Automata actually reached Ending E
>>
>>376145257
If you're looking at steam achievements I'd bet money a lot of people didn't finish Age of Mythology because they already played through it years ago and just wanted to MP
>>
because I buy stuff that Ill never play because I can. Its like an addiction. I have 350+ games in my steam collection and growing specially after I lost my fear of g2a
>>
>>376146346
That's why i picked multiple different examples.

A japanese game which is quite long
An old game which however always had achievements on Steam
A popular indie game which keeps getting updated
And at last a shooter with a fairly short campaign and not all that MP heavy

You can check any game on Steam like that.
It's pretty much always 20%-5%
>>
>>376146219
I have a feeling that is a lot more than normal, how many people completed Horizon?

I have like 600 games in my library and will never play any of them
>>
>>376146783
People who own more than 20 games on Steam are like 1% of the overall userbase
>>
>Stanley Parable

>Over twice as many people have the Unachievable achievement ("It is impossible to get this achievement.") than the Commitment achievement (Play The Stanley Parable for the entire duration of a Tuesday)

>74% have completed the game
>71% have played more than once
>>
>>376145257
As far as I understand it, Moon Lord is bullshit even if you have multiple players. Especially after they patched out the dildo throne tactic.
>>
>>376146898
Sheee-it is that for real?
>>
>>376146902
Note that the game can be beaten in ~4 minutes, and there's an achievement for beating it in under 4 minutes 22 seconds
>>
>>376146985
I beat him solo multiple times

First time was with the faggot throne though

>only 85% of players have
what?
>>
>>376146902
I have played the Stanley Parable for like 15 minutes and I have all but 3 of the achievements.
>>
>>376146985
Your understanding is shallow. UFO car key with Rod of Discord, combined with Chlorophyte bullets and a clear sky, make for a dead moonlord.
>>
>>376146219
I'm still on it. I got bored during the second playthrough but reached the third which is much better now.

It happens when you get old

>Play game
>Get bored with it and never touch it again
>New game comes along
>Repeat

Games just dont fill the void like they used to
>>
>>376146990
According to Steamspy its around 1.3 million users who buy games regulary and don't only play CS:GO only or F2P titles like Dota2

And Steam has over 100 million active users

>barely feel like playing vidya anymore
>the ones I want to are on the ps4 but shit is expensive here
>only playing Flower, Sun and Rain on the DS and REmake HD
>having fun with both despite FSR being mostly Walking Around the Island: The Game, even the MC complains about this kek
So far my only hype is The Silver Case: Ward 25, gonna have to wait till may 26 because Suda51 will reveal the remake that day.
Yeah I should start doing other stuff so I don't get too depressed
>>
>>376145257
It weirds me out as well. There are a few games I've never finished, but a majority of the time I play through to completion. For retrospect I have about 300 games total, minus some I traded away like a moron. I never buy a game unless Im invested in it and also feel like I waste money if I dont push through. Luckily a majority of the time I do that, it ends being worth it
>>
>Own like 900 games
>only never played like 30%

Slow and steady wins the race
>>
Once you play enough games you'll just get bored, a lot of games are so stupidly similar after a while you know where the story is going, you know nothing new is going to be added to the gameplay, the world probably isn't going to massively change and reveal some kickass level.
>>
>>376149086
True
But that isn't really responsible for those percentages.

I am sick of openworld tower clones Ubisoft style and thats why i just don't buy them anymore
>>
>>376145906
>This is Dark Souls
>Die for the first time
>90% completion
One in ten don't even play long enough to die, and I bet less than 1% are people who've beaten the game start to finish without dying
>>
>>376145257
I try to finish games i start, but sometimes, like with the STALKER games, I get so many errors and crashes when playing through I just say fuck it and give up part way through even if I really enjoy the game and want to see it through.
>>
>>376145257
>6,7% of all players finished God Eater R
guess why
s h i t t y d u b
>>
>>376150483
Those who hate the dub don't even start or buy the game
>>
>>376146219
I took a break towards the end of B to marathon SMT games
>>
Yes, but usually after a VERY long amount of time because I have an insanely large backlog, or at least as of the past year or so I can name 9 games off the top of my head that I'm currently "playing", and there's probably a few more.
I'll play a game for uninterrupted 6-7 hours long sessions like 3-4 days in a row, put it down for several months, then obsessively play it in the same cycle. Rinse and repeat. They only times I don't do this is with a game that's either one of the best I've ever played like TW3, or super short like Undertale.

I keep trying to promise myself that I'm not going to buy any more games until I work through my backlog, but I'm never able to follow through lol.
>>
>>376150192
Its impossible to best dark souls without dying on your first try. There is a mandatory death at your first encounter with Seath, that you can only go past doing the elevator skip. And barely anyone knows about it, so people playing it for the first time will certainly not know it.
