The only thing EO3 have compared to EO1-2 is more icons for your maps. Otherwise it isn't a huge step forward in term of gameplay, it's still as easy/unbalanced as the other

Put arbalist on front row and invest everything in front mortar or something. He'll do most of the dammage. Then you subclass her into the warrior-like class and give her charge and that skill that let her dammage herself for an attack boost.

Subclass monk into princess and get the regen skill. As long as the buff is on, your party will refill it's life at the end of every turn.

Now that I think about it, you may want to know that there will be a choice at the end of the 3rd stratum (I think ?) Depending on your choice you unlock a different class and get a different final boss. To unlock the other class, you'll have to play ng+ (you keep everything, even your maps but the story and dungeon shortcut are resets). The post-game is the same.

There is also the true route which have retarded requirement so you may want to look that up. If you want the best class just side with Armoroad (the city you're in)

Persona q is a bad game. As an etrian game, all the enemies, and particularly bosses, are just huge damage sponges and the game actively reqards you for using instant death spells to instantly end most normal encounters. Bosses can only be taken down in a reasonable amount of time by poison, whcih then trivializes the fight. The only thing the game had going for it was dungeon design, which was pretty solid.

I'll agree the power difference between physical and magic was retarded, easily the biggest imbalance compared to any other Persona or SMT game. But the game showers you with frontline units while backline ones are rare. I had two characters that didn't do much damage to bosses, but had no trouble because they worked fine when supporting.

EO3 actually has a lot of callbacks to 1 thematically and in enemies used. Excluding dragons (who are in every game) there's four bosses who return. Stratums 4-6 are a lot like EO1's. Particularly the fifth which has an oriental slant to it and has tree rats and FOEs from EO1's first stratum. It's fairly minor stuff but I thought it was cool coming from EOU.

The real thing that needs to be played first is EO4. That's the game that feels incredibly underwhelming after playing any other game in the franchise, but notably EO3 which came right before it. It's just super small - I don't really give a shit about QoL. But the dungeons are laughably tiny. I can imagine fans of the DS games being disappointed with it.

Probably my favorite EO game alongside U2. The level design is fantastic, the sea stuff is a fun diversion, the quests are plentiful and there are so many ways to level your party compared to the first two games. In addition, the classes are pretty unusual and there are so many effective strategies with team synergy, In addition, the plot is somewhat interesting in that it has multiple routes which encourages replay value in a way the other EO games don't.

A downside is that status moves and binds seemed shittier in III than in other games. But Warrior's Might makes up for it.

You should make a party of farmers and grab early game stuff. There is a goof gathering spot on the first floor of every new stratum that is perfect for grabbing materials without a single encounter, once you have a shortcut unlocked.

Now that I'm at the 4th strata everything is falling apart. Snakehead's torpedo attack instantly kills my front row and that FoE on the 2nd floor kills at least 4 of my dudes if it even thinks about casting zone blaze.

I was using a pirate to chase my back row's basic attacks against single enemies. Having a farmer sleep/blind enemy groups so my arbalist could snipe them or since my monk has tons of tech I can use regal radiance for big damage. And my main defense was my sick ass 760hp lion tank. I think they're just too squishy and since you need sacrifice to unlock the lion my wildling gets resurrected so my tank disappears which kinda fucks everything up.

Really thinking about retiring a couple of my dudes to get a better party layout but leveling in this game takes an absurd amount of grinding.

I don't really get how DT2 did it right. I mean, I still enjoyed it but it had some dumb shit. Many classes come down to spam one attack over and over. Valkyrie had almost no reason not to use Daedalus Strike, Magical Princess had their dumb spell that let them take no damage for a few hits, so on and so on. U2 already deviates a decent amount just from removing the huge amount of stat trees, and many skills are changed a decent amount. War Magus healing all comes in two parts, Medics can overheal, Ronin actively changes their stances with attacks. Not only that, you actually have a reason to use multi-target attacks against bosses. For the first time in ages, Landsknecht's All Slash is a good and sensible option to put points in. Force is something you actively have to manage in a boss fight rather than being that thing you ignore most of the game because you never have it up.

So your party is farmer monk pirate arbalist and wilding? Well yeah it's not really that good, it's like hard mode. I mean I reached the 5th stratum with a farmer the first time I played it but I had a gladiator and a hoplite to balance it.

In general Arbalist, Gladiator, Hoplite and Shogun are the classes that will probably never ruin your party unless you fuck it up horrendously. And Pirate, Ninja, Farmer and Wilding are the clases that can ruin your party easily if you are not careful. And you have three of them. Farmer needs a lot of baby sitting and party synergy, ninja and pirate are better as subclass, and wilding blocks you from ninja's double.

I think you just a meat shield. Getting a hoplite/ninja instead of wilding will improve things a lot, plus you can front mortar your arbalist. Or keep your wilding and change the pirate for gladiator. Or just retire your farmer for something more active and use your wilding for binds and ailments. Leveling just one is not that hard with the sea bosses, specially if it's something/ninja and you can tengen batou shit to death alone.

I would say EOU2>EO5>EOU>EO4 as far as the 3ds titles go. I didn't like the skill system they have with the 2nd name thing and the music wasn't all that great. Class balance is from 4, if you know what are you doing you don't need tanks or healers to finish game. But only if you know exactly what are you doing
