I'd say it's pretty standard new RO experience.
Same mechanics and shit. If you've played rising storm it's very much the same.
The best thing about it is the asymmetry. Both sides, yanks and the charlie have completely different commander abilities and faction mechanics. Yanks also get helicopters and because charlie doesn't, so it encourages the players play bit differently.

The real issue with arad is that you have to actually be good at the game to play it properly, probably why a lot of players don't like supremacy in RS2 because it's not the usual HURR LETS CHARGE INTO THE MEAT GRINDER OVER AND OVER FUCK TACTICS

It's okay, since everyone has automatic weapons the gameplay radically changes compared to RO2 and RS. Additionally Vietkong have squad tunnels which means a semi-permanent spawn point even if your squad leader is dead.

Choppers don't add that much to the game, other than dropping off squads of soldiers so that they can flank unprotected caps

I'm yet to see an amazing pilot, the number of maps they're available for on 64-players is pretty low. Transports are mainly used to execute flanking attacks whilst cobra is used for recon. The attack heli is possibly the only useful heli but its impact is extremely limited given its limited rocket reserve.

RPGs and the abundance of manned anti-air guns make them extremely susceptible to being grounded

Only way is for Squad Leader to get smokes is picking a class that has them

From what I recall, the only classes that have smokes are Commander, Pointman (equivalent of assault class) and US Grenadier (they can have an ammo loadout which includes smokes). On the upside you spawn with two smokes instead of having to drop it, use an ammo box and pick it up again.

>Vietkong SAM
Anti-air, takes out air unit above a certain altitude including player-flown helis, Spooky and the plane that drops Napalm. Takes about 10 seconds to activate and lasts several minutes
>Vietkong Ambush
Instantly spawns all dead players on the Commander's position. Massive potential to flank the enemy, most commanders so far just use it when they're at the fucking radio

Artillery is now a single type now, unlike the 3 different types in Rising Storm
