A lot of people talk about how good the dialogue is from NPCs like Joshua Graham, Chief Hanlon, Caesar, etc., but the Courier can get the chance to say some pretty top tier lines.

I think the thing that really sets this game apart is not only the voiced dialogue, but the player dialogue options. They are so diverse and fitting to each situation. I've never once looked at all the available choices and thought "none of these options fit"

I played it yesterday for the first time, and I don't know. Fighting my way through the exposition hallway would not have been that bad if the exposition actually told you anything, and someone needs to sit down and completely rewrite the final confrontation. I somehow persuaded the crazy face mask man to change his lifelong beliefs without exhausting 90% of the dialog options or him ever becoming coherent, let alone making sense.

Also the subplot with the robot. I don't know what that was even supposed to mean, other than one of the writers possibly wanting to fuck ED-E. You know that scene in Kingdom Hearts 2 that effectively established the mickey mouse kid and his emo viking bro as gay lovers through ass-awkward writing and direction? Every single interaction between the robot and me felt like that. Why would I fawn over the robot like it's my dearest childhood friend? Why would I instead act like a Bioware villain towards the robot? Why does a floating TV have that much of an AI (even though the game says it doesn't?), why can it suffer emotional trauma and why can it feel pain? Why is that robot special compared to every other copy of it I've seen in the facility? Why is the robot getting fried played like a gut-wrenching moment of heroic sacrifice that the whole movie was building up towards? Why can I easily target Legion and NCR, or both, but not instead target the ocean and avoid the whole magical hacking thing? I just sat there, staring at the screen, thinking that I must have broken a quest somehow. Dead Money had plot holes the size of a small nation, but LR beats it with one hand tied behind its back. The whole thing even takes place in a plot hole.

While playing my Jesus-sama Courier that I have 80 hours on and had planned on maxing out (for the most part where it mattered; I made some personal changes) I only realized at level 50 that I won't be able to max out all my skills and that at least 5 of my perks are redundant and wtf i hate this game now
My plan was to have my God Courier and "complete" the game with him basically and then save right before the splitting paths and then I'd feel no obligation to be an autistic completionist/hoarder packrat and actually play the game and roleplay and have fun and shit. I've collected almost all the unique shit (even misc items) in the game, but I feel very demotivated now and want to restart. My only issue with this really is recollecting all my shit, recompleting all the DLC's (100% discovering the map, milking it for absolutely everything of value, doing all the challenges and sidequests, collecting every DLC specific and unique item, etc) because some of those DLC's are kind of shit and I only made them shittier and longer/more tedious with my retarded tendencies

Off the top of my head, the magic it uses to steal your gear and teleport your allies around for plot reasons, the chemically impossible evil fog eats through hazmat protection but had not damaged any of the vending machines or the hologram projectors or any of the infrastructure necessary for the gala event, all locks being locked, all traps unsprung and all loot unpilfered despite you being just the last sod in a long line of 'volunteers', the fact that Sierra Madre is close enough to Mojave that Dog can make regular rounds to check on multiple traps and bring you there before you regain consciousness, and the whole place is covered in a gigantic purple cloud and broadcasts a steady enough radio signal to allow for triangulation but somehow it's a secret, legendary place that you can never find again after you leave, and you can never tell anyone you know a place full of Old World tech and gold bullion that you have maps and access codes for. Also the radio-jamming floors in the casino. Elijah is trapped inside the casino the whole time, but he can phone you over the pipboy and control your collar while you're outside and about a mile away, and the game further demonstrates this should not work because you can only eavesdrop on Elijah when you're high enough to have line of sight with the casino.

Then there's Elijah being trapped inside the casino for months, possibly years, and having wizard-like control over its most secure subsystems down in Sinclair's vault, but somehow not being able to unlock the vault in all that time while you do it in half an hour. Also he complains about not having the holorifle anymore. Why did he leave it to you if it's unique and he needed it, if it's not unique what would he not have one, HOW did it get to you if he's trapped inside the casino, why does he miss the holorifle if he has a gauss rifle, and how can he have a gauss rifle when one of the first things the DLC establishes is that Sierra Madre's techno-magical safety systems confiscate all recognizable weapons and anything irradiated, which is the reason he slapped the holorifle together in the first place. But he made the holorifle using Sierra Madre hologram tech, so why would he need to make one to circumvent security if he's already inside. And if he has enough working knowledge of BMT's tech to actually improve on it, why does he need to access Sinclair's vault in the first place. Holograms, vending machines, bomb collars and the cloud, his reasons for coming here, are all over the place. And apparently simple enough that the Courier can fix or disable them without prior training.

Basically, whoever wrote Dead Money had a story to tell, and by Jove he was was going to tell it, internal consistency and common sense be damned.

The Cloud and the Hazmat Suits are two parts of a single Big MT experiment, the fog is meant to mutate people inside the suits, not destroy the environment it's unleashed upon.

The traps are all set by the Ghost People and Dean tells you they leave supplies out to get the jump on people.

The Sierra Madre radio signal is broadcast on an ultra low frequency designed for Pre-War emergency broadcasts, nobody is listening. All the radio signals, like the one you follow, lead to one of Elijah's bunker traps. Nobody but itinerant treasure hunters care enough to track down a woman's voice advertising a Pre-War Resort on the hope there's actually something amazing waiting to be taken.

There's no indication of how far Dog travelled or how long you were unconscious. It was a room full of knockout gas built by an unstable asshole, it was probably close to a lethal dose.

Elijah is communicating through the Villa radio system. You're the only person to have come through with the technology to receive his signal, it's obviously an oversight on his part. He's not perfect.

The Casino sealed itself after the last attempt failed. He was locked on the suites level with no access to anything because the security only unlocks during the Gala Event.

He doesn't need the Holorifle, he just misses it because it's his creation and he wants it back. He's lying when he says he's made other, better models.

He travelled to the Sierra Madre because that's where the technology is. There aren't any Vending Machines in Big MT, the Cloud is only found at the Madre and the machine that produces it is there.

It's played up to be a mythical lost kingdom of some sort, even though it's near Mojave and covered by an artificial atmospheric phenomenon that should be visible from hundreds of miles away.

Nothing in NV is hard, nothing in NV can be made hard, being tedious is not the same as being complex or challenging. Halved carrying capacity only means I either have to abstain from looting valuables, which breaks immersion, or spend half of my play time trekking to and from merchants, which is tedious. Jsawyer ultimate at least gives you backpacks to compensate for the horsefuckery. But that kind of defeats the point of lowering the encumbrance limit in the first place.
