I gave up on the first one, near the end. I somehow managed to force myself to the final chapter but then it was too fucking boring to go on. I just couldn't stand the game anymore, it's one of the most boring, repetitive, easy, repetitive and generic rpgs I've ever played. If you find it boring to look up sepith count for hte spells you want, just take someone with a long orbment line as your dedicated Arts user.
There's nothing wrong with focusing mainly on physical attackers and just giving them stat boosting quartz like Attack 3 and such.
I recommend you give everyone Action quartz.

I know that feel. There are fuckload of spells and it ain't easy finding a perfect set up on guys with more restrictive orbments.

Some spells to look out for are healing ones, earth wall(it's expensive but worth it, a barrier that blocks one hit, be it insta kill S-break or whatever) and buffs like La Forte, Zodiac etc. Damage wise Time and Yellow spells did good for me(AOE Lost Mobius kills 99% of enemies and is good for bosses too since enemies love being weak to space magic). Don't forget Cast 2 quartz, by the way. With it you can cast shit(depends on the spell but healing ones are super fast) pretty much instantly to save everyone.

I'd roll with Olivier and Kloe because their orbments are less restrictive so you can put all kinds of gems there to get plenty of spells(Olivier's a bit better there since Kloe got some water-only slots) and just try them out to get a feel for what spells are good and what not.

If you're on normal, only use basic attacks and S-Craft as soon as it's up each time. Heal with Teara/items whenever you get the max healing benefit (like don't heal for 2k if you're only missing 1k HP).

Develop the characters without binding it to social links. I believe Crossbell had a nice mix, where it was bod bonding events, but also getting to see the characters develop outside of it.
