Crash Bash

Crash 1 is outdated

Crash 2 is much more polished than Crash 3. Just the fact they renewed animations and models after Crash 1 it shows you how much effort they put into that game.

Crash 3 is good but it suffers from a general sense of "more of the same". The animations are the same from Crash 2, the time traveling concept isn't well developed and the music is a downgrade from Crash 2.

Yeah, Crash 2 is objectively the best Naughty Dog era Crash game.

3 will never be ranked higher than 1 or 2 simply because it has too many gimmick levels. Planes. There, now you're remembering 'those' levels which kill the fun the minute you see them.

After playing 1 last night and finishing it to 100% in a couple of hours I feel like it might be on par with 2 bar some genuinely frustrating mechanics like boxes broken not saved on checkpoint respawn being a total bitch on some levels. 2 has tighter controls and banging music but the level design and platforming of 1 is like nirvana.

pretty much this, i replay crash and spyro series every few years or so when i'm bored and remember, and i'm always compelled to 100% crash 1 and 2 because they're both great, but the gimmicky levels of 3 just put me off doing anything but simply getting to the end.

It might be because it's the only one I actually owned as a kid, but I agree. Also playing 3 after 2 is is kind of annoying since in 3 you keep your momentum when you break a crate, which makes trying to do the trickier crate-platforming challenges more difficult.

No I'm talking when you bounce on a crate in mid-air, in 2 you lose your momentum when you bounce on the crate even if you were holding the control stick in a direction, whereas in 3 you'll keep it and go even farther. This makes parts where you need to jump from crate to crate over a bottomless pit more annoying because now you have to be even more precise with the stick to land on crates with specific amounts of momentum.
