It's pretty good. They nailed both the aesthetic and the music. It feels pretty close to a Castlevania game.

It's a Metroid-like, but the layout is more like Simon's Quest than SotN. There are a number of mansions and towns, and countryside in between. There are also day-night cycles and weather cycles that change aspects like enemy types and whether or not villagers are outside.

Does it have RPG elements like Symphony of the Night or is it more traditional?
I've always fantasized about a SOTN-style game that based your stats completely around equipment so there was no real way or reason to grind.

Should I play the first before hitting the second?

640x480 is the sweet spot where graphics can be nice, but not costing too much.

More games should be made at that resolution.

Just imagine something with some budget could do.

I've reached a kind of poison spewing zombie with purple hair and it deals half my HP per hit

aside from shooting fireballs from afar (and running out of hearts) I don't see what I can do, I can manage to kill one before I run out but there's still another (and probably more) afterwards
