Honestly, I remember seeing the characters' faces in Xenoblade for the first time and thinking they looked really weird. And I'm sure Xenoblade 2 will still be a good game no matter what, and that we'll adjust to the different things about it just as easily, but I'm REALLY going to miss the faces being unique, instead of generic anime style. These just had so much charm to them, and the fact that they were really goofy looking sometimes honestly added to the charm.

People always made the Potato-chan joke, but I didn't mind the way any of the characters in that game looked, honestly. I'd rather have a quirky and memorable style than something safe and bland. I really loved seeing relationships between NPCs develop, and tracking it on the affinity chart. I've never been so utterly attached and in-tune with the lives of so many minor NPC characters in any game before. Seriously, there's gotta be hundreds of them, but they were all so interesting and memorable to me.

That said, they can be repetitive, but if you play the game smartly, you'll end up unwittingly completing sidequests just by playing the game thoroughly and gathering as much stuff and killing as many monsters as you can.

Dunban should have been the main character. Shulk could still have been the bladewielder, but having the focus be on Dunban in a mentor role over his semi-autistic protege' would have been a lot more fun. Shulk's whole first half of the game was just "muh fiora", followed by "muh nado" and finally "muh zanza", I don't feel like he really grew a whole lot as a character, whereas Dunban already possessed a ton of character even at the very start of the game, and his goals actually felt justified and not just some rage-driven lunacy, he would never have made many of the mistakes Shulk made that actually made shit a lot worse at multiple points, like freeing Zanza to begin with.

It's one of the bare few games ever made where it's much harder to find a bad track than it is to find a good one. I'm not sure you even can, every track has some appeal point, the "worst" tracks are in reality still what you would consider some of the best tracks in lesser games. Radiant Historia is one of them, as well.

You miss the whole point. You're not supposed to follow the story of the already-accomplished, grizzled war vet. You're stepping into the shoes of the kid who's learning all this shit for himself for the first time. I guess the heavy JRPG-ish turn the plot takes in the final quarter is a bit much, but there would be no point playing through the whole game through the eyes of Mr. Badass and Sagely World Wisdom, when it's up to Shulk to start taking life into his own hands and making his own decisions, and to put aside his lust for revenge in favor of actually having a righteous and just goal to fight for.

Had the game existed on a different console, I would have liked to see a sort of DLC prequel episode that stars Dunban with Dickson and Mumkhar in his party, though. That would have been fun.

Shulk and his buddies felt like they were at a pretty comfortable age range for me. Shulk was old enough to be physically mature, but still young enough that he would be naive to the world, especially given all the time he spends in the lab. And when you think about it, besides Fiora and Reyn, everybody else who's ever a part of the team is older than him.

Building up the relations of the cities was a great thing of it. It did so much right what other modern rpgs just seem to lack.

Here is how you play melia from someone with 50+ hours of exp
Boss-stronger enemy
1.summon earth+summon copy
use them on the enemy
spam summon bolt summon flame summon ice
until summon earth is back up repeat step one
don't forget to use a spear break+starlight kick every once in a while retard
what about other arts?
these are very situational
burst end, shadow stitch, mind blast and hypnotise are all good filler depending on the enemy also can't go wrong at all with a reflection
-for groups of enemies
use flare or ice and copy depending on the enemies
maybe use a poison on a stronger enemy in the group
thunder bolt at enemies that are at low health or just use it too do damage at the start of the battle
repeat

w-what about healing
melia a shit healer simple as that you will probably loses more health and your allies by summoning aqua same goes for the summon aqua+healing gift combo
use shulk, sharla or riki for healing
use gems that help healing or defence if you find you need more defence and support

there are many other little things that you can learn with melia positioning is very important
