I actually didn't mind Rev 1's new characters but RE6's were mostly so fucking forgettable. Although I'd like to see Jake Muller come back.

The thing about RE protagonists is that it's kind of ridiculous seeing them come back and seeing how much bullshit they've gone through and how they somehow still end up at the center of all these B.O.W. scares and whatnot, but it's usually so great to see all your favorites come back anyway.

RE5 is nowhere near as well paced of a game as RE4 is and everything new it attempted RE6 did better - better action flow and mechanics, better cover shooting mechanics, better co-op implementation. Even RE7 took its inventory system and did that better, not that it made much sense in an action game instead of a survival horror one anyways. RE5 excels at nothing and is a woefully mediocre game with a handful of cool parts, one okay DLC scenario and another really bad one, and one or two fantastic new additions to the RE girl canon, really depends on how you feel about Excella. It is, without a doubt, the least fun I have had with a RE title.

But that's just my opinion, I suppose.

That's the one part of RE6 that I think is worse than RE5. To me, Leon's was struck with a horrible case of identity crisis, much more so than the other campaigns. It felt like it wanted to be RE2, RE4 and continue from RE5's direction all at once and there was just no harmony to it. I personally favored Chris's and Ada's, the former because it was RE5 but actually decent and the latter because it was better at being what Leon's tried to be a homage to with a few actually alright puzzles and a slightly toned down approach to action (and also, I fucking love that crossbow). Jake's is fine, he had some of the best parts when they shone but otherwise was just okay. But Leon's? I felt it was an absolute clusterfuck that never came together properly.
