Really hated it. Everything took forever to die. Blitz Hannibal a fuck. Then someone mentioned the HDH bullet and then I steamrolled everything in the game. Still hated it.

Besides that, was an audio patch for Rage Burst ever released? Resurrection is a really polished port yet Rage Burst feels so half-hearted.

Only played 2.
It tries to be monsterhunter without the satisfying combat.
You are lot quicker on your feet and attacks have much less ending lagframes which leads to a combat that feels extremely button mashy and is much less about learning the monster's moveset and adjusting your strategy according to that.
It also trivializes the ressource hunting until very late-game On one hand that doesn' mean annoying inventory management and potion growing, on the other hand it also means not getting that satisfying feeling of carving up a giant monster and making an armor/weapon out of it.
It's ok for a casual grind experience, but while I easily invested 300+ hours into monster hunter 3 alone, I was getting bored after ~50h of GE2.

I don't like hunting games but I like the art style. Looking forward to Code Vein.

Yeah, thinking back I enjoyed the time spent playing GE1 and GE2 more than the time I spent in Toukiden 2. Never played monster hunter so can't compare there, although by all accounts it's speed and extra busywork would drive me crazy.

My first MH was Tri and it was a MAJOR turn off. A few anons in a previous GE thread got me to try MHX and I ended up enjoying it quite a bit more than a I thought I would. I still feel like it it could be faster, but thats probably just the overall feel of stepping from GE to MH.

I thought GER was okay.
The combat was more exciting than the other fast-paced hunting games like Toukiden but the story, characters, and overall setting missed the mark for me hard. By the end of the third story arc I found myself mashing through dialogue and browsing the internet during cutscenes.

Clothing separate from your defensive stat was a great idea, keeps everyone from looking identical at endgame.
Fast combat speed was fun even if it lacked impact.
I liked the absurd anime plot in both.
Tickets for crafting are fucking great.
Having ai allies you can sort of customize makes things a lot more fun, even if they are worthless endgame.
Plenty of customization between blood arts, weapons, god eater styles, abandoned god arcs, and your two accessory slots.
Both games have a really fun sense of humor that keeps things light. Watch the shitty anime that focuses on the grim part and you will really notice the difference.

Not really sure what your problem is. Fair enough if anime triggers you, but it had plenty of good things.

It goes on sale fairly often, keep an eye open for it.
If you like or have a high tolerance for anime it's pretty good. Also lots of fighting same monsters in different numbers/group compositions in the same few arenas. I just change up my weapons fairly often and try new things, but I can see it getting old for some people.

I'd highly suggest choosing GE:R or GE2 and only playing one though if you do buy it, there's a ton of reused assets so it will burn you out. GE:R has a better plot and a few more quality of life fixes (since it's a remake technically and came after GE2), but GE2 has more content and has a lot better cinematics.

MonHun is a game series all about huge fights against giant monsters with various kinds of medieval-ish weaponry. Monsters do a lot of damage to you, while you generally need to hit them hundreds of times before they finally collapse. Monsters tend to be pretty fast, while hunters are burdened with long animations for attacks, using recovery items, and pretty much everything else, so timing is paramount to completing your quests. Beating a monster gets you parts of that monster, which you can use to create or upgrade your weapons or armor, letting you tackle stronger monsters, which gets you stronger gear, and so on until you're 500 hours in and wondering where the weeks went.

God Eater is a faster-paced version of that, with less animation time, faster attacks, faster monsters, and less restrictions on how you approach combat with the ability to switch between long-range, short range, and blocking at will. The general framework of beating monsters to get parts to upgrade things to take on bigger monsters still applies, though.

Personally, GE is my favorite of the various MonHun clones, and I've sunk a good deal of time into it between the PSP game and the remastered version, along with thousands of hours in MonHun. If any of that sounds appealing, it's definitely worth a try, though you could also try out a MonHun game first to see if that's up your alley. MH3U or MH4U on 3DS are great places to start, as well as Portable 3rd if you've got a PSP or emulator.

No. It's one of the worst games I've ever played and I put 100 hours into GE2RB Waiting for BotW to come out. I don't have the energy to get into why it's terrible right now but it is. Same missions over and over again, extremely vapid and cliche'd plot that will either baffle you or make you want to poke your eyes out, shit tier "comedic relief" characters like Kota and Romeo, baffling writing that makes you question whether the writers are even human, and a janky, floaty combat system which feels incomplete in either game. GER has no Blood Arts and GE2 has no predator styles and both games really need both in order to play above shit tier.
