Is the TMP viable mid-end game? I'm at 4-2 in the mines and wondering if I should make some space, it still seems useful especially in a panic.

Absolutely. It's a DPS monster when fully upgraded.

I can't get rid of my pistol, the bond I've forged w/ the Red 9 is not something to take lightly, it'll be like getting rid of my dog.
>>
>>376059150
No, it's not.

It looks cool and it's pretty powerful, but the TMP has no downsides late-game since what it lacks in power it makes up for in DPS and having 250 rounds before reloading.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Red 9.
It's actually my favorite gun irl.
>>
>>376058913
>>376059047

TMP is based. I use it for crowd control situations. It is also really cheap and common ammo so you can easily hit ganado to face and follow up with melee. no reason not to have it.

Your loadout should be red9 + riot shotgun + tmp + sniper.
>>
>>376057884

TMP is like the best weapon in the game. It's more ammo efficient than even the pistol for melee/knifing and when you're in a pinch you can just hose down dudes.

I wonder what it would be like to do a playthrough where you just sell your pistol and replace it entirely with the TMP.

>>376059847
>>376060031
Hardest stretch of the game for me is the entire part between the cabin siege and fighting Mendez. I always come out of that part of the game more ammo starved than any other. But then again I always fight both the chainsaw sisters and the optional Gigante so I can finish that mask or whatever.

What are the best tips for re4? these are what I could think of

> buying capacity upgrade causes ammo to in gun to reset. abuse this on weapons like the broken butterfly to get more of the rare magnum ammo

> you can kill fish in the water and get a dead fish which you can eat to heal.

also, I was playing the game a while ago and learned that you can actually go through both areas right after the cabin fight with Luis. You can fight both the el gigante boss and the chainsaw guys if you just go back around.
>>
>>376057884
I use it on verdugo cause it's my least favorite fight. Fighting verdugo will take you a shitton of ammo, a fair bunch of herbs unless you know what you're doing and is kinda stressful because of the million QTEs.

Verdugo also drops a treasure worth about 40k when you combine it with the salazar crown, which is much more than the sell price of a rocket launcher (15k) so I dont feel too bad using it on him. I can beat him no problem but I prefer losing 15k than having no ammo and missing health consumables after the fight.
>>
>>376061467
Playing on professional makes dealing with mobs easier because their aggressive ai makes it easier to avoid their hits. They'll try to "predict" when you run towards them, so you can just tap the sprint button somewhat close to them and they'll try to attack, allowing you to run past them easily.
>>
>>376061283
Yeah. I beat RE4 a few times a year and at least one of them is a speedrun every time.

My fastest was ~3h40
>>
>>376059456
it's pretty easy though.

might be wrong but I remember having a way to basically bait the garrador at the entrance of the room first (head shot one normal dude from a corner of the entrance zone), then once they're near you, run up the stairs and use your shotgun to clear as many cultists as you can. Then use the leftover bells to fuck with the garradors.
>>
I've used the red9 and riot shotgun pretty much just the whole game without significant problems, and I'm about to fight Salazar (I assume, I just did the part where you have to fight 2 wolverines at once) will this loadout be ok for the rest of the game?
>>
>>376058913
I never used the magnum. I love the TMP and it always kicked ass.
>>
>>376061759
Doesn't that also happen on normal? I always do that to bait enemies for an easier knifing.
>>
>>376061467
Knife krauser. It does a rediculous amount of dammage. The final bonus upgrade for guns also fully reloads ammo. Kill all the flying bugs and then shoot the nest down for tons of gems. Salazar goes down with one rocket. Freeze the right hand and then blast with rocket for a one hit kill and cool death explosion. When you first get to the village, run all the way to the path that would go to the farm, there's a chain saw guy that has a large ruby.
>>
>>376060428

literally a retard. If you had stopped at Red9, everything would be fine but advising people to get the blacktail over Red9 is objectively wrong.

Why get a handgun more suited for spraying if TMP is an infinitely superior spraying gun? If going meta, it's either the TMP or Red9, everything else falls short.

>>376057884
On Easy, sell it.
On Normal, consider selling it or perhaps using it as I would on Professional.
On Professional, use it against the Verdugo in the 4-1 sewers. Freeze it with the canisters and then fire one rocket at it for a 1-hit kill.

Eh, I don't hate the TMP, I just don't personally enjoy it. It's definitely a very mechanically sound weapon, and has its uses, but it's just not one I find fun to play. I'd argue the Minethrower is objectively worse, but I find it a lot more fun, and use it instead.

>>
>>376057884
On normal? Shouldn't need any unless Vertigo is that tough for you (make sure he's nitrogen'd).

Or professional? At least Vertigo/Salazar and each boss onwards. Especially Krauser, he'll kick your ass good at first.
>>
You're small time
>>
>>376059448
I agree with this except Striker>Riot Gun. The shorter range is not a major drawback at all, since you should only be using it point blank anyway, and the extra damage, and 100 free rounds+Storage space saved, is a huge upgrade.
Also Ditman glitch is super fun.
>>
>>376059150
red9 is only good the first time you play the game

on pro its damage is meaningless and the pistol becomes good for staggering for melee hits.

The default pistol is the best pistol on pro / when you're actually familiar with the game.
>>
>>376062125

> when you first get to the village, run all the way to the path that would go to the farm, there's a chain saw guy that has a large ruby.

The very first village the very first time you go there? is this a different chainsaw guy compared to when you go inside the house and the cutscene plays?

most of these arent top sekrit tier but some people might not know them

>there are two chainsaw dudes in the village, one at the end of a small road leading out of the village, the other spawned from the barricaded house sequence. Kill both for tons of early money (1 ruby and a large sum of cage of the same value)
>sell the punisher you get from the medallions
>it's worth reading a guide on where the treasures are and what goes with what to not miss anything
>the novistador nest can be killed before entering the giant capitol room by climbing up a window right before opening the door. Shoot it with something damaging and it'll fall down. If RNG is with you, you'll get loads of blue novistador eyes and make bank.
>shoot the wood when you see a well with a pendant hanging above it. It'll prevent the pendant from getting dirty and losing most of its value
>flashbang large crowds of crows for tons of pesetas and ammo (notorious zone for this is the daytime el gigante arena the first time you pass through)
>ashley can be used effectively as bait. They'll never outright kill her unless she's right between you and them. Bring the bad guys in a zone far from a door and you can get one dude losing his time trying to escort her away
>ashley will duck if you aim right at her
>all the plaguas spawned from headshots can be instakilled by flashbangs
>in the double el gigante room with the molten lava, you can wait until one is standing on top of the middle platform and use a lever to make him fall in lava. You must know that he is not dead until the trap closes. If you get too close while the trap is still open, he'll grab you and kill you instantly. Also, you need to leave and go back in the room to get the money from that trapped el gigante. It will spawn in the middle of the room.

>>376063096
>Also, you need to leave and go back in the room to get the money from that trapped el gigante. It will spawn in the middle of the room.
They actually fixed that in the recent ports, you only get the money if you kill him without the lava.
>>
>>376063096
cont.

>the red9 does the most damage of all pistols and therefore is the most efficient. The default handgun's special upgrade makes you make more headshots, but this is arguably a bad upgrade since later in the game it'll spawn lots of head plaguas. Blacktail can be considered if you like piercing shots, but the lower damage and the fact a shotgun basically does the same job better makes it arguable.
>you can actually see invisible novistadors. Stand still and you'll see them drooling like retards in the sewers
>the tmp is objectively the strongest bullet based weapon. It has the ability to near permastun and does a truck load of damage. Use it on el gigantes or other bosses to see what I mean. It's also the cheapest ammo to use for single bullet utility cases like shooting small pieces of wood, birds, knee shots, trap triggers and such.

Alright, TMPniggas. Convince me.

Ever since my first playthrough of Resident Evil 4, I've stuck by the combination of:
Red9 for generic combat and lone Plagas (I only use Flash Grenades if I can get more than 1 Plaga to show at a time)
Striker for close encounter.
Semi-Auto Rifle for those few sniping sections, Garradors, JJ's, shielded enemies and the Regeneradors (and Iron Maidens).
Broken Butterfly as a panic mode against bosses I really don't like (The Verdugo, U-3 and Osmund Saddler)

Which of these should be replaced by the TMP in my next run?

Fully upgraded, it's a pocket shotgun. Put on the stock and it's good enough for precision work that would normally require a rifle.

I tried a fresh run with the starting pistol just to see what it's like. I hated it and the RNG nature of the 5x critical exclusive, so I sold it and bought the Red9 despite the money dump on the Pistol earlier.

>>376064184
Two scopes is fine, but there's really no reason to use a red9 stock unless you have Parkinson's
