It's all a part of the autistic relationship between WoW Players and the creative dev team.

Chris Metzen in a case of narcissism basically fell in love with being Thrall. Due to being into silver rage comic shit at the time he wanted Thrall to go from sensible orc leader amongst a horde of savages to basically Captain Planet. However, the autistic fanbase that is the WoW community absolutely hated when one side got "more development" or "more of a role" than the other, with the alliance fans constantly hating blizzard for having a horde bias. Metzen figured that the best way to get around this was to have thrall become an a-political "hero of the world" and go neutral to the Horde and Alliance war to focus on bigger threats.

To compensate Metzen decided that Grom's son had gotten enough "development" over Wotlk to be the new horde leader and with the edgy themes the horde fans wanted he decided to make an aggressive orc nationalist take the throne.

Unfortunately it didn't work, most horde players ended up missing Thrall. Grom was too edgy and made alliance fans angry for pushing more horde victories into the lore. Realizing their failure, blizzard decided to crank Garrosh up from a conversant but morally gray character to "Orc Hitler" and had him break character to get Not-corrupted.

The main issue WoW has is going for casuals and the content drought. Going for casuals is fine, but the content drought is the issue, especially with cata, though i didnt play for longer than a month, they apparently had one high end raid for 6 months or a year or something like god damn fuck that. You need a new raid that starts the grind over or shit is boring. It already is pretty boring as it is unless youre pushing for super high content.

Heh. It will never happen, because Thrall is an author self-insert and thus his only flaw can be lack of power to make everyone obey, but I think it would be great if it turned out the Orc race actually corrupted the Burning Legion, not the other way around.

The orcs were never a peaceful, shamanic people; that was literally a dream, a make-believe backstory Thrall invented to justify everything he did. Nor were the orcs a warrior race, honorable or otherwise.

What they were, was a race of slavers. Every orc was psychologically unable of comprehending others, even other orcs, as anything but "slave" or "master." This limitation, imposed by the way their brains functioned, allowed orc tribes to spontaneously self-organize into military chains of command - the "horde" concept.

When the Draenei contacted the Orcs, they were much like Eldar from the Warhammer universe: immensely overpowered, but also incredibly vulnerable to any ideas that seemed new and interesting. They gave the Orcs some of their power, and in return, the Orcs gave them the concept of taking and controlling other life forms as slaves, which became the animus behind The Burning Legion.
