I beat the first on my ps1 a month ago, it's fun as fuck with no guides. Just take your time to explore and figure shit out. If you like secret equipment/areas, kings field is perfect

If you're serious about it then try KF4, you'll be amazed at how much stuff you recognize from the Dark Souls franchise. The next best thing is finding a decent LP and watching it at 1.5x speed. IIRC you can emulate games and speed them up but it's been forever since I've emulated anything so I don't remember. I'm almost positive I did that with Pokemon.
