i liked it. its a meta game like mgs2. you retards wont understand until years later.

The previous 3D games are much worse.

It's pretty bad in the "not working properly" sense, but either way far from being the worst sonic game.

Early 3D sonics were especially bad and there's a lot of others I didn't even dare try.

If you can sift through the bullshit that is treasure hunting and mech stages then SA2 is okay.
That's the problem with most modern Sonic games. They're okay if you can actually make it to the good parts.

For 2D Sonics, all the Megadrive ones are excellent, the best one is either Sonic 2, Sonic CD or Sonic 3 & Knuckles depending on who you ask that question, it mostly goes down to which game has the levels they liked the most but S3&K at least has the best OST of the bunch and most detailed graphics. If you liked those, you can then go play the Sonic Advance games.

For 3D Sonics it's kinda harder to say which you should play, a good bunch of them didn't age that well, the two Sonic Adventures are still solid even if they did age, Sonic Generations is unanimously seen as good like the day stages of Sonic Unleashed (from what I remember there's a mod to play those stages on Generations on PC).
The games that pretty much everyone shits on are Shadow the Hedgehog (to be honest it's only really fucking average), Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 (a bugged shitfest) and the Sonic & the Secret Rings and Sonic and the Dark Knight (or Black Knight, forgot which) duo because their controls are absolutely atrocious.

It's amazing to break this game, I'll give it that. You can literally homing attack the doors in aquatic base and go through them as sonic or shadow and break everything. And the music is unironically excellent.

A friend of mine really liked Sonic Adventure, so I could ask her about it and see where to go from there, although it unfortunately sounds like 3D Sonic is more of a mixed bag

I eyed Generations a fair amount as well, and it at least looks pretty good, but it's more of a celebration thing, right? Wouldn't feel right to jump into it too early

I know it's fucking awful, the controls are terrible and the loading screens are abysmal. But there was this strange determination in me that wanted to beat this game all the way through. I feel like had this been a very polished game, it would have gone down as one of the best Sonic games ever.

The best thing that came out of it is the Sonic '06 Game Grumps series with Jontron. As much as you may hate GG now, - and I do too, because the jew guy is nowhere near as interesting and funny as jontron - the Sonig '06 series was really, really funny sometimes, solely because of the fact how the game was broken and how Egoraptor and Jontron had to entertain themselves throughout the run.
