I usually solve these things by not buying dlc for loot.

grab bars
make your way to the side door, next to the opening which elijah walks out of
normally this immediately blocks up with a forcefield and forces you to fight/run alllll the way around
wait in front of the side entrance about 2-3 feet, may take some practise
wait until elijah is in front of the vault and starts to fuck with his pipboy
walk through at that moment, the field doesnt activate in those few seconds


This will take a bit of practise but i discovered this on accident while being an overencumbered jew and that's how i got away with all bars, no cheats.

IIRC there's an action you can do where you can suspend objects in your crosshairs like Gordon Freeman in HL2. I forget what the default binding is, but I know you can pick up pieces of corpses and do the inventory trick with it (though if you move your crosshairs too fast you might drop it).

It's really all about the timing, going the long way around requires jumping too i think and overemcumbered jumps are a pain.

Timing it right, getting there before Elijah spots you, waiting in front of the open door at the right distance, going through right when he starts to fiddle with his pipboy sounds tough but i redid it a few times and it was definitely not a fluke.

Jet only gives you AP, which is pretty useless in 3/NV/4. Turbo might give you a chance, but IIRC there isn't any in the Sierra Madre unless you mod it in/use console commands.
