What I like about MK8 is that the tracks are imaginative and the music is great. Playing a track is less about the competition and more like riding a fantasy roller coaster ride. Yes, the fun wears off eventually when you've done it enough, but isn't this true for everything?

I've been playing around a lot in time trials on the same track over and over testing out various things.

Honestly, I feel like the differences between a medium character and a heavy one given the same setup otherwise are pretty miniscule, in the under 1 second range on a given track.
Admittedly I'm not the top ultra pro on the top of the worldwide leaderboard, but still.

And online all the differences matter even less because it's more about getting hit by items or not anyway, so I don't see why some people say only heavies are playable in this game.

They should finally get rid of the red shell or at least lower its chance. It's such a horrible item that just says fuck you to fun and to skill.

There would be so many ways to add depth to this game. They should just copy other kart games, maybe try Lego Racer's upgrade mechanics. Upgrade boxes instead of item boxes you need to turn a green shell into a red shell, for example. One shell into three shells. Or a shroom into three shrooms. Delayed gratification.
