I don't feel awkward or anxious playing Breath of the Wild around others, and your words don't affect me. Many others, however, are coming out of their shells for the first time in their lives. This is the first time many are enjoying the beautiful world that has been painstakingly generated for us - and it IS beautiful. Incredibly so. DON'T ruin this for them. We Zelda fans may have our differences, but we will not hesitate to come to the aid of our fellow explorers, especially against someone who so virulently slurs that which has brought us all together.

Don't take this the wrong way. I don't hate you. I don't fear you. I pity you.

I'm sorry that you feel this way towards us. I'm sorry that Breath of the Wild is such a bane to your existence. And I'm sorry that you are missing out on such a wonderful experience. Mostly, though, I'm sorry that you feel the need to go around and publicly chastise and berate others. I'm sorry that, to ensure your own validity, you need to make others feel invalid. I'm sorry that your self-worth is so infinitesimally miniscule that you have to make others feel less-than-human, at least in your own denatured mind, just to feel whole. I am truly sorry that day-in and day-out you have to put up with your worthless, meaningless, Shakespearean tragedy of a life.

I ask you politely to cease your unnecessary cries for attention, and instead invite you to join our ranks. Uninstall Call of Duty, start up Breath of the Wild, and breathe in the splendour and the amazement of your first shrine, and then, maybe, just maybe, you'll see what you've been so hopelessly searching for this whole time.

The anit Nintendo bias was out in full force in the Wii era. Before it even came out Game Informer was desperately running propaganda to try and discredit it, saying that the only game worth owning on it was Zelda and that REAL gamers played on Xbox and Playstation. The REAL games would come to it eventually.

I saw through it, but my classmates didn't. Time and time again, I would shake my head at how they kept getting hyped up for mediocre titles like modern Final Fantasy and Gears of War whilst I played the new Nintendo releases. To this day I still return to and enjoy titles from that era, while the games they spent months hyping up burned themselves out in a matter of weeks.

I think the main thing to take away from this is that no one trusts the gaming media anymore. Gamergate really was a turning point in how society viewed the gaming press. People could no longer justify their ideas as merely just being a difference in opinion. These people downright video games and those who played them. Especially, ESPECIALLY Nintendo fans.

We are seeing the same thing with the Switch. The gaming media and YouTubers are desperately trying to pretend that the Switch is not exciting tech. They are telling us it's underpowered, that it has no games, that it's just a gimmick, but gamers don't care. They're not even aware that the gaming media is a thing anymore. They just want to play their games in peace.

What white privilege ass uni do you go to? Literally nobody in my building has a TV. Everyone either has laptops or handhelds. Our rooms are literal closets where we need to share with 2 other people.
