The devs were quoted on saying 16-22 hours and
>"Without giving you spoilers, I would describe the endings as essentially two main branches. You're gonna be making some pretty big decisions about the space station and the people aboard the space station. But then within those main branches, there are tons of permutations, and a lot of it has to do with what you did and how you treated survivors that you encounter."

So if you want to read into that, it means two play-through if you are that kind of person then add maybe 5-10 hours for finding everything.

I mean, many developers have stated that it's within 1-5% margin of error so it's pretty damn accurate, the problem is these retards are using it immediately on release, when you're supposed to wait at least 5-7 days for an accurate readout

From what I've seen so far it looks like a proper System Shock 3.

>>
>>376032114
Dont fall for the retarded "gaming journalism" propaganda.
If the game is good it will sell and thats that.
Just because nobody preorders anymore doesnt mean a project is doomed.
>>
The story is non-existent when you get through the 30 minute intro. It's so fucking obvious what the "good" and "bad" ending is, the characters are bland stereotypes and the aliens could've been cool, but they went for uninspired black blobs that run kinda fast and hit like a freight train on whatever difficulty you select.
Arkane delivers a shit game yet again.

We wait to see how player and critical reception pans out and if there are any major technical issues, and if things look good and the game interests you then buy it and tell your friends/strangers on the internet about it.

But by no means does any Bethesda game deserve good day 1 sales with their shitty "no review copies ever" practice

dont deflect moron, it's a valid criticism if you've played the game. the story isn't great

my biggest complaint though is the lack of choice and variety when it comes to gameplay. did you imagine this game would be a congested shooter? no? too bad because it is- small rooms are filled to the brim with aliens (looking at you deep storage) which means you better have spent your time getting a bunch of ammo and health items- there's just no other way to play. it doesn't matter if you go hard into alien powers because they're bland. the level design of everything after hardware labs sucks. the AI is inexcusably stupid as in they fucking know where you are at all times and they're just pretending sometimes- scripted events out the wazoo means multiple playthroughs will be mostly similar

this game sucks

Pretty much this. 'Play the way you want' are just a bunch of buzzwords these days, but this game actually lies by claiming you can.
Stealth is basically impossible -even with the upgraded skill for it- I've had the detection meter go up when there was a solid wall between me and the enemy, and I stood perfectly still. Maybe Morgan is a loud breather.
Aggressive play styles are punished as well because the enmies are so goddamn strong, and your character is incredibly weak. There's a serious issue if a wrench does more damage than a gun, especially because ammo is so rare.
>>
>>376035457
use the mimic ability for stealth
>>
>>376035896
use the gun ability on your head
>>
>>376035975
what the fuck is your problem?
>>
>>376035896
I believe it's bugged right now, because half of the time enemies will still spot me as a mimic. Even then, it's very limited use and requires a ton of psycho kits (or whatever they're called) to be a viable option for the amount of rooms you need to backtrack through every mission.
>>
>>376035896

but what if you want to stealth without alien powers?

even if you do use mimic, its limited by how much psi you have and there is not a lot of hypos to replenish it. besides, once you realize that crytek works with navmeshes, you understand the aliens will always know where you are unless your crouching everywhere and when you go in mimic form, you break that AI.

not what i would call intended stealth
>>
>>376036060
>and there is not a lot of hypos to replenish it
I can tell you haven't been exploring a lot. I got shitloads of them even before getting the alien powers.

So far in 3-4 hours
I've seen the mimics, they're headcrabs like things that can transform into random props.
The phantoms are bipedal guys that can dash super fast around places and fire projectiles at you, some use fire attacks, other electric, there might be more.
Floating robot with a flamethrower.
Mind controlled humans.

It's not a lot but the enemy density isn't high enough that you'd meet a new enemy every half hour. also, every encounter with a phantom is pretty brutal with how fast they move and mimics are really good at running away and ambushing you.

I say do this. However Valve themselves say this is illegal. So if they every somehow had proof that any anon did this they would have no more refunds ever.

As much as I like Prey 2 Valve needs to tell them to shut the fuck up and stop fucking with the system abuse or explain and change the policy saying sure 2 hour demo ok.

That is the one thing people should actually be mad at them for.

Can someone explain to me what's so good about it without using memes?

I'm watching a walkthrough and thus far it's rather boring.

>you will be able to go whenever you want on the station, even eva arounf ot
>so far it's the same offices and tech alleys
>ebick powers, turn yourself into a coffe cup xd!
>so far it's just fucking bullet time

At wich time mark it gets marginally better?
>>

>>

>without memes
>ebin coffee cup
Cmon man.
>>
>>376043785
when did they say that? it's objectively not true since the game uses denuvo and hasn't been cracked.
>>
>>376044712

it doesn't really

the begining of the game is strong, it has good ideas and tries to set a good tone, but the rest of the game does not hold up. the combat just isn't fun, the gunplay is weak and phantoms shifting around isn't o0o0o spooky or cool, it's fucking annoying- yea you can gloo them, but they can still get a shot off just before they get incapacitated by the gloo which does an absurd amount of damage

the level and story design start taking a nose dive at psychotronics and reaches its peak bullshit as deep storage.

from that point on, you're on rails until you get to the end of the game

sounds like a good idea right? except this game is so front loaded, you'd actually walk away with a good impression with only two hours, but that's when the game starts to throw some bullshit your way and come out with a flaccid finish after finally beating it around 8-10 hours

>>376044063
I'd say that's Valve's fault if it's illegal. They should let anyone try a game for two hours before even doing the credit card charge. I think that's the part that's the problem. Credit card companies don't like refunds, and Valve sounds like something that would be doing that a lot. If Steam let all users try for two hours "on credit" so to say without charging, that would solve the whole problem. But publishers would probably need to opt in on a system that hands out their products temporarily for no charge.

>its good

Alien Isolation comes to mind. That game is easily in my top 10.
>>
>>376045460

sure, get it on sale.

its more like space floating, you don't actually touch down on land and walk around. you use a little propulsion system to move in different directions, so if that's your thing go for it.

not much to do in space, there are some blown out sections of the station you can explore, but you won't find much there that you couldnt find inside, more ammo, mods, maybe a note or two. As you can imagine, combat is also a little finicky because the only enemies that can exist in zero-g without their AI freaking out are the annoying ones that zip around in different directions while your movements feel limited in comparison

The thing I really like about this game so far is the exploration. There's so much to explore, and a lot of backtracking since you need upgrades to unlock some areas you were previously in.

Also, this detail is fantastic, this gigantic lobby you can see the station orbiting the Moon, and the Earth and Sun come back into view every 15 minutes or so, and the room lights up dramatically, then when the sun is not in view the room is pretty dark. Really nice attention to detail.

You actually can get a stun gun before the goo gun. In the very start of the game when you break out of the simulation, in the room with the brain wipe chair and the lock level 3 safe, climb up on the computers on the left of the room. There's a briefcase full of fat loot including a stun gun and a stack of ammo.

please, the world isn't that open and all the "hidden shit" you find on your first playthrough. there isn't any replayability, there's no point doing a hacking or repair playthrough in this game like in system shock because there are so many ways to complete stuff. dont got hacking? just find another way in. also they give you way too many neuromods so you turn into a jack of all trades.

Also try spamming talk to the maintenance chick outside of your room on the first day. She's cheerful the first few times, then gets cagey and asks you to stop talking to her because she could get in trouble and eventually just shuts up. Yeah that's something I noticed so far too, this game has a ton of detail and polish to the point that I'm amazed by how much effort they put into it.
The game also feels quite a bit bigger and more open world than I expected.

I haven't heard anyone make this comparison yet but it's similar to BoTW in how you can go pretty much anywhere from the start. As well as how you use the environment and the tools at your disposal to fight/explore/complete objectives that you can set by yourself without any handholding. I really like this trend of more open ended game deisgn and hope to see more of it.

If this game is anything like that my experience should be similar. Then again, I'm the type of person that slowly explores everywhere and picks up every item I can hold / reads all the emails and audio logs and whatnot. Also taking screenshots and shit because this game is beautiful.

You are losing on the miniscule amount of players who refuse to buy denuvo, or at least wait until it is significantly cheaper. But more importantly you lose the completely free word of mouth and discussion that the pretty big amount of pirates bring.

My main problem with the game.
For a game with such premise there is very little from the narrative side, most interactive cinematics and audio logs jut serve to give you some exposition or a tiny it of lore, they rarely if at all have nothing to do with the story.
The twists are predictable, the themes are cliched and unoriginal.

Basically you have the intro, the ending and few short exposition dumps, other than time you just run around the empty station, meet some boring ass survivors that are so badly written that you just want to kill them all and kill the same enemies over and over.

How much more detached can you be from reality? You are a joke.
>>
>>376049664
I haven't pirated a game in a decade but your list is objectively wrong. Most of those games have in fact been cracked.
>>
What are the mimic Tumors and why can't I pick them up? I'm early in the game.
>>
>>376064831
They are used in crafting, you need a skill to harvest them. Useful later on, but right now are kinda useless.
>>
>>376064897
thanks
>>
>>376064454
>publishers should be glad people can get their game for free
Where the fuck did anyone say that?
Merely pointing out the obvious that people who pirate and people who buy are two different groups, and you might as well take advantage of the former since they aren't going to turn into buyers anyways.
>>
REEEE FUCKING ITALIANS CRACK THIS SHIT

So it's a sequence-of-arenas type of layout then, with a few basic RPG elements thrown in? Sounds a bit samey gameplay-wise imo. Thanks for the heads-up!
>>
How do you guys deal with the telepath aliens and is there any real point to trying to save the mind controlled people? I'm in Crew Quarters right now and I'm really low on ammo. Might just run back to the Arboretum to craft more I guess, if there even is a recycling/crafting station there.

Someone spoil the game for me. I'm guessing it turns out you're a Mimic forced into mimicking a human through experiments and given false memories. Everything's a test to see if they can feel like humans do. Did I get it?
>>
>>376065150
Think Dishonored and Deus Ex: Human Revolution in terms of gameplan then add some Bio/System Shock vibes. The "sequence-of-arenas" thing makes it sound like the new Doom or something.
>>
>>376065072
>Where the fuck did anyone say that?

Here, retard:
>Uh huh. So word of mouth doesnt exist then?
>But more importantly you lose the completely free word of mouth and discussion that the pretty big amount of pirates bring.

Don't try to pretend it didn't happen.

They install to the same place, but the folder hierarchy is different enough that they can coexist and both work.

Also for some reason nuPrey is in "Prey/Binaries/Danielle/" and I find that amusing.
>>
>>376055298

This looks more like Biocock, i mean Bioshock.
>>
>>376064897
Later on? They're reasonably useful as soon as you get the skill to harvest them since they recycle into everything and give you more alien spunk to shoot into your veins.

Most annoying part is how they don't auto-stack though.

>publishers lose out on valuable pirate word of mouth by not letting them pirating the damn thing in the first place
>is somehow bad
>it somehow doesn't mean publishers should be glad people pirate their games because they provide valuable word of mouth

The backpedaling and the mental gymnastics you have to go through to justify your retardation is nothing sort of amazing, idiot.
By all means, do keep entertaining me and keep trying to argue the unarguable. I will gladly watch you fail.
>>
>>376065321
I was initially looking forward to Native American peyote-induced superpowers, but failing that I guess DishonoShock doesn't sound bad after all.
>>
>>376065863
Lets try to hammer it home then, you fucking inbred:
>pirates will be pirates and no amount of DRM will make them customers
>DRM makes a miniscule amount of players iffy about buying
>buyers are buyers, regardless of DRM
>the more people are playing the more there is discussion => more people get interested in the game

From this we can come up with the conclusion that DRM is worthless since it doesnt actually increase sales. Should publishers be glad about pirates? Fuck no, of course they want them to become buyers as well. But the reality of the situation straight up isnt that a pirate turns into a buyer just because he cant play a single game out of a hundred.

I think there are some notes or emails or something in the area you're in atm that makes it clear that the storage room has a breach. So you gotta do a space walk and fix it with the GLOO cannon.

10+ years ago, I used to pirate 90% of my games because it was super easy, with the coming of steam and other methods of DRM, I pretty much stopped pirating entirely and I know a lot of people who changed their minds as well.
DRM makes pirating harder and that's the entire point because convenience sells.

Playing the ps4 version. I think they fixed it, along with the combat music that went on forever. It's a lot like system shock, but from what I've seen so far, it's a little more balanced.

Does anybody know if I should go with the psi abilities or stick with the human ones? I've just unlocked the psi trees and I want to know whether they're worth investing in.
