And yes, it's being made by the Yoshi's New Island people

Will you be giving it a shot?

27 seconds in so far and no kazoo to be heard.

I've got no reason to not try it, as I'm a Pikmin fan and have a hacked 3DS. Not expecting much, though.

It really doesn't look that bad now that we're actually looking at it at length.

It's not so much a Federation Force spin-off than it is LITERALLY PIKMIN ON A 2D PLANE
>>
The level design just looks so bland and bare.

They really should have made bigger levels that you explore with Pikmin, unlocking new areas as you get more of them. Basically, Pikmin in 2D.
>>
>>376023446
>made by the Yoshi's New Island people
dropped. I mean I wish them the best, I guess. But dropped.
>>
>>376024312
What was wrong with New Island besides the kazoo music, of which there is literally ((((none)))) here?
>>
There doesn't seem to be any complexity to it, it's obvious where you have to throw your pikmin.

Also note that most 3DS games that come with Amiibos tend to be garbage that Nintendo has no confidence in selling on its own merits. There's this game, Chibi Robo, Animal Crossing, the new Mario Sports game. The only good 3DS game that seems to have Amiibos launched for it is Fire Emblem Echoes, but with that one Nintendo are probably worried that the series won't sell without all the waifupandering so they're relying on scalpers to buy the amiibos to boost sales.
>>
>>376024462
The gameplay showed they learned absolutely nothing about Nintendo magic and tried making a game to appeal to nostalgia like New Super Mario Bros only to fail miserably.
>>
>>376024462
I just hated all of it basically. I dunno, I guess it had some nice ideas but the levels/bosses and everything just sucked compared to the original Yoshi's Island. I even hated the art style.
>>
>>376023446
>click on stuff and wait

Such a good gameplay mechanic.
>>
>>376024715
>>376024730
This is already sticking much closer to Pikmin than New Island did to Yoshi's Island. Dismissing on principle is pretty silly desu.
>>
>>376023446
I'll give it a buy. The music here is really something, pretty magical and kazoo-less. Gameplay has potential but is really one-note here.
>>
A lot of Pikmin's charm comes from exploring well-developed environments with lots of things to do and different ways to do them at once. It doesn't work very well in such a linear format, I don't think, as it doesn't have the enjoyable movement of platforming or the exploration/freedom of choice of the original games.
A big part of the series is also the consistent and in-depth world building, so we'll see where this goes with that aspect.
>>
>>376024817
How is this anything like Pikmin other than the characters? There is no exploration because the levels are linear and the puzzles/strategy all looks incredibly simplistic.
>>
>>376024165
>>376024571
>>376024892
These are obviously the early levels that introduce the Pikmin types and teach you how to use them, I'll eat my fucking hat if they don't have levels where you mix and match later on

>Pikmin is one of my favorite franchises and I want to support this game
>I already had to watch Chibi Robo die because I couldnt bring myself to pay for that 3DS Shit
>This game literally just looks like you walk in a straight line and solve puzzles with only one possibly solution that's going to be obvious as fuck at any time
>Even in the solution wasn't obvious I'd just get stuck and that wouldn't be fun either
>Game doesn't look interesting or challenging

I'm hoping it will be like the Kirby games. They are just fun and relaxing, not meant to really challenge you, just to mellow out with some cute shit and cool visuals and just constantly going forward and seeing new levels without ever having to stop because you died or anything. 0 frustration.

I still dont know if I'm going to buy this or not. An anon above said you walk forward, throw some pikmin and watch stuff happen, I have no reason to believe he's wrong in any way so far.
>>
>>376023446
looks overly simple and lackluster, but it doesn't look horrible atleast
pikmin stopped being interesting since pikmin 2 sadly
>>
>>376025224
Pikmin 2 was fucking garbage. 3 was incredible.

sure sucked that you had to buy it to save the series though kek
>>
>>376025318

I went to the store to buy it and then I changed my mind and went home. Then I ordered it on amazon and cancelled the order hours later. The game just looked fucking boring. It literally looked like any random indie shit I could find on steam. I wanted the Chibi Robo Amiibo more than I wanted the fucking game.

>>
>>376025371
Every level was a fucking slog. I couldn't get beyond half of world 2 because I felt like my time would be better spent doing literally anything else.
It was that bad.

You dumbass, anyone who isn't retarded realized that literally months ago
>>
>>376025549
Where do you think we are?
>>
>>376025012
Even if you do mix and match, the most complex this game will ever become is choosing the right colour Pikmin to throw. And that will be simple since it will just be red pikmin for anything on fire, blue pikmin for anything underwater, etc. The other Pikmin games typically have you exploring an area whilst managing your time and Pikmin well. This game seems to have none of that, it's just a simplistic platformer on a system that already has plenty of better platformers to play.

>LITERALLY PIKMIN ON A 2D PLANE
Not really, no. Pikmin was about wandering around, setting Pikmin to tasks involving carrying stuff back to base, and making sure the path home is clear so they could do so without being concerned with them getting eaten halfway there. Also, a bit of time management and combat throwing. I'm hardly seeing any of that in this game. Maybe the stages will become more maze-like later on and rely on some planning, but the majority of Pikmin seems to be gone.

Mind you, it might be a good title anyways, in which case it's a good platformer with a Pikmin theme. But it really isn't a Pikmin game just with 2D platforming.

I feel so sorry for devs who stuck with this terrible piece of hardware.
Your game is controls like ass, looks like jaggy ass and you can do nothing about it.

Kirby Mass Attack was a better 2D Pikmin game than this shit could ever hope to be.

>>376026829
True arena is pretty easy, it only seems difficult at first because the rest of the game is babby-tier so it comes as a bit of a shock.

>>
>>376023446
This isn't Pikmin.

Pikmin isn't exactly a puzzle game. It's like a relative basic RTS mixed with a puzzle game mixed with an adventure game. The main focus was on multitasking activities to get things done as fast as possible.
>>
Should I go back and finish Pikmin 1 through Dolphin? I remember the time limit giving me anxiety that I'd fuck everything up as a kid. Is it as bad as I thought it was or is it actually pretty lenient?
>>
>>376029431
The time limit is pretty lenient. Some areas will let you easily grab two or three pieces a day, and I think that even one piece per day will certainly still work. Note everything is an essential piece, after all, and you can correctly beat the game in time even without 100%.

Although reading the logs as time progresses is as much fun as finding everything.

>>
>>376029431
Pikmin is much easier to take on when you realize there's a score tally at the end with a score board you add onto with your initials. Treat it as a Star Fox where you'e not necessarily trying to complete it on the first go, but just see how well you can do on your first try and then see if you can top that in another attempt. It's not a particularly long process to get through 30 days either.

It's shit.

>Should I go back and finish Pikmin 1 through Dolphin?

Yes.

Make sure you use the 60 FPS AR code and all that. It makes the game even better.
>>
kinda looks like yoshi new island. Who is developing this?
>>
>>376031012
Artoon, the same people who did Yoshi's New Island.
