It's keeping the open world style, but how can they improve on it?
Would just adding more dungeons be enough?

Yes.

Open world and mechanics should stay. Underwater swimming should be good.
Larger bosses that require more climbing like Shadow of the Col. but don't make you fall off as easily as BOTW does.

-adding MUCH more dungeons
-increasing weapon dura a bit (shit broke way too fast and almost seemed to share the same level despite the material they were made of)
-a dura gauge to better strategize and just plain no how many uses we got left of it
-more crafting elements and ability to repair our own shit wherever and whenever
-more weapon choices (would have loved to wield a ball & chain or a hookshot)
-more riddable creatures and ability to register them indescriminatly
-more costumes and ability to add or remove abilities
-a more involved final boss.

SoTC-style bosses would be fantastic for another Zelda like BoTW, and underwater exploration is always welcomed
I do wonder why there's no grappling hook since climbing is such a big thing in the game, and I dont think it would be particularly unbalanced or anything

in adition, add fishing mechanics, with the player being able to catch bigger fishes that restore more health or allow for better recipes

other than that, add more Zelda-like dungeons like everyone said already

I mean. Holy fuck. It's a big rock, yeah, but it's half, my size. I should be able to just grab the top and bring my legs up if nothing more. I don't have to be a fucking acrobat about getting up on it, but goddamn you devs, don't act like it's a fucking insurmountable wall.
