I have never understood why people praise old 2D Sonic-games. It's either going slowly and missing the point of going FAAAAAST or you actually go fast but have to remember the stage, otherwise you keep hitting on walls, enemies or traps all the time.
I know nostalgia is big thing on this one but why people like 2D Sonics so much otherwise?

early sonic was more about platforming
the faaaast was just a short reward in a level for getting through a platforming segment. Very little of the early games was actually about going fast.

I liked sonic x but come on man
Sonic CD, Sonic 2, Sonic Adventure, Sonic Heroes, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic Colors, Sonic Rush Adventures, Sonic Riders...there's been plenty of good Sonic games.
