The angels also mostly failed against the horsemen, who are a whole different beast who are meant to keep BOTH in check through sheer power.

You've been wreaking havoc all through the game as an underpowered War and now not only is he unleashed with the final seal broken, his family is showing up as well. There's no way you wouldn't be hyped about it. Also helps that the ending cinematic was directed really well, with how the 3 comets came gradually into focus as War gives his response to Uriel.

It's also the reason why I don't mind that each horseman's story playes parallel to the ongoings in DS1. As you learn what the others were doing and how badass they are, the ending scene in DS1 becomes that much more meaningful. Outside of enemy AI worse than the first game, a lazy "cover system" that doesn't really protect you, almost zero control of your squad and no gameplay reason to switch anyone in your squad, the gameplay feels weightless, even more than the first game.
Hell even driving the Mako in the first game was more enjoyable and that thing felt like riding a Jeep through a bouncy castle.

Proof of concept, if they are comfortable showing pre Alpha footage more than likely what you are seeing is late Pre Alpha, so they have the worlds and assets they want as well as a go through with the main character moveset but it's still a Work in progress.
An example of early pre alpha is Darksiders 1's that was shown, had a different art team and even mechanics like turrett combat where changed later on due to internal changes.

Anyone else getting Darksiders 1 on the Wii U? It comes out this month. Originally played it on the 360, and Darksiders II on the Wii U. I want to own Darksiders for Wii U and play it again.
