No Heavensward? Probably nothing but level other classes. I think the content at that level is dead. I think people are only doing it unsynced level 60, so Party Finder is no go. And I don't think people are using Duty Finder for it. But on the off chance there's even just a couple of people, maybe you can do the Lv50 content as a healer/tank, otherwise queues might be horrible especially for DPS class.

Either way at 50 just grind poetics until you can get a full i130 set (should be easy) while leveling other classes you want. Get the items from Rowena, both the i120 armor pieces and the items needed to upgrade them (carbon whatever stuff). Always weapon first.

If you want to try queueing for content or making your own party finder or something or if you somehow manage to find a cool FC that'd do it at Lv50 with you, then: Once you have at least i120 start doing all the lv50 content (coils and primals).

If you aren't gonna get the expac at all tho, I'd just keep leveling other classes, started with one in each role.

If you plan to buy the expansion, you should do it now.
There's 100+ MSQ after you finish the fist quests of ARR and beat Ultima that you'll need to do before reaching HW but you'll still be able to level up more with them.
When I reached HW I was level 56.

AF1? You get it by finishing your job quest lvl 45 and 50, it's Ilvl90.

Though after reaching 50 you'll slowly work on getting Poetics (a new currency for lvl 50 stuff) that will let you buy the Ironworks gear set ilvl120.

How do you healers gauge the tanks skill level,the spike damage from mobs and bosses and staying alive and cleric dancing? Trying to DPS as a healer is getting many poor tanks killed because 5 seconds is an eternity when the tank is on triple digits.

Do I have to run every dungeon without DPSing a few times to see the damage or is there a more effective way? This is making the class very stressful and making runs much longer.

It's not like Thancred and Y'shtola are more or less important than her in 3.X. All the Scions are pretty awful. Underwhelming at best. Minfilia just had the problem of being the head of them, and the one they felt you needed to CONSTANTLY run back to. If either Thancred or Y'shtola were the one the game repeatedly said "Head back to the Rising Stones to speak to" and whatnot they probably would've been just as hated.

Well, maybe not Y'shtola. Being a cat protects her from criticism, the same way being a potato does for Tataru.

Not that I'm trying to raise the Minfilia Defense Force or anything, but she doesn't have much a character to hate. It's more just the god awful way the story made her constantly appear.

I think they wanted her to be a "main girl" in the game but unfortunately she was mostly a leader/diplomat and her personality made her look like a mother figure for the group (the kind of mother that hates to see her kids leaving her house even to go to school). I think she had potential to do a bit more important since she knew more about the echo than the rest of the scions, but even the echo stopped being relevant after Ysayle died.
I just feel that Thancred and Y'shtola are pretty much recycled character models in 3.X. For example, Alphinaud still is the same elezen boy you met in 2.0, except he is far more mature now due to character development. Y'shtola, on other hand, is only used for her connection with Matoya and primal/aether mumbo jumbo (something Krile was doing already, with support of Urianger every now and then), and Yugiri could easily fill Thancred's role in 3.X without affecting her own role since nothing about him is used for his new "batman" role.
There isn't much to say about the rest, since nothing changed for the others, except for not-Yda in the last minute (but that only changed her name in the dialogue box). At least Papalymo's sacrifice makes some sense (being the Louisoix's pupil and all), Urianger's role in the WoD arc would be less interesting if they used some new NPC instead of him, and Tataru still is a minor support/joke character since she already got a short story arc.
The scions as a group are pretty much irrelevant at this point, even Y'shtola indirectly agrees with this (saying that it would be better if they remained as friends contacting each other for help rather than a proper organization working under supervision of a leader).

I don't mind individual characters in the Scions. Having them appear very occasionally to be legitimately useful would be great (in side quests, cameos in the main story, etc). But as a collective whole, and as the 'main' characters who can't help us in actually important fights, they're horribly misused and come across as completely incompetent.

Much like how ARR misused Minfilia, the more the Scions make you trudge around to do shit for them for no good reason, the more annoyed players rightfully get with them. It's past the point now where they're killing them off and players feelings mostly range from "Eh.." to "Good riddance." I guess it's easier to kill them off for emotional value than actually try and make them work as characters.

I know padjal and kinna weapons are considered shitter flags
But why arent the garo ones?
Ive been using them damn near exclusively for all my classes and you can get one in about 2 or 3 matches of shatter easy, but i rarely see anyone using them unless its as a glamour.
