People really need to stop wanking off Dwarf Fortress for nerd cred.

It's a fun game with a lot of depth, but it isn't that hard to play and really doesn't require any sort of next-level strategies or special insight. The only thing that makes it hard is that it has the worst UI in the history of video games. It has an inverse difficulty curve. It starts off hard as fuck because it's super unintuitive and you don't know how to do dick, but once you get a grasp of the basics it gets so easy it's almost impossible to lose unless you purposely challenge yourself.
