Another retarded decision what's with the ranking limits on weapons and equipment? I never used any of this stuff until the end game because it would arbitrarily keep me from an S rank which sure as shit doesn't mean skill anymore.

50% of the equipment blocking you from S-Ranks also made me just sort of never use them which is a retarded design choice because I unlocked those, payed for them with GMP and waited out the 450,000 year development time and my reward is an item that keeps me from achieving my goals?

If this was all Kojima, why did nobody tell him that this was retarded? Like you literally waste hundreds of man hours on items that most players will never even use because they don't want to be kicked down to an A rank despite never being seen once or killing anyone.

The same goes for the chicken hat. You spent at least ten hours to make, test, and balance that stupid thing when nobody is going to humiliate themselves by using it. Wolfenstein did literally the same thing with a still image and some text. The only people who are going to touch it are dudes that are just fooling around with the AI, which you already have the box, sneaking suit, and active camo to do it with.

MGSV is literally the definition of dominate strategy.

You have almost a hundred different pieces of equipment, but 90% of them do something that D-Dog and Quiet can do by just selecting them in the buddy menu.

Sure it gets boring having Quiet snipe everything, but I S-ranked every mission I brought her on just by running like a retard and giving her the fire at will.

I do know I hated bloody venom. It ruined the progression feel of going into a mission clean and coming back bloody. It was also kinda retarded that they made it a thing when A) You have to kill the skulls if you want to keep your sanity B) almost 66% of the equipment is lethal C) It ruins stealth so it basically locks you out of gameplay style until you fulton twenty kids out of Africa.

I always want to only kill when is necessary because I feel like despite venom being a big boss clone he has enough memories of mgs 3 snake in him that he'd still not be an asshole. But I can't make myself get immersed in the game enough like I can 3 where I genuinely care all the way through and play like a fucking larper, so I just start completing missions in the easiest way possible. Usually by trying to sneak quickly, getting caught, and just shooting half the base and doing the objective.

Playing mgs v makes me feel sad, I hate it and love it at the same time.

You should try a new playthrough with mods that do all the tedious sidework bullshit for you.

I did a new playthrough with a mod that unlocks everything on base, auto completes all the side ops so I didn't have to do a single one and gives you whatever buddies you want from the getgo( buddies are fucking lame to me so I don't use them)

The game is still awful as far as mgs goes, I don't even give a fuck about the canon anymore or MUH MISSING LINKS, I just genuinely wanted a coherent narrative and fuck tons of stupid historically accurate cutscenes that are used to push some dumb b level movie villains retarded master plan over the edge while snake says dumb shit

But, with all the busywork out of the way it was a lot more enjoyable.

I'm not sure Venom knew too much though, he only has about 10 lines in the game.
Venom mostly just wanders around doing whatever Miller tells him to so he can act like Big Boss despite not really acting like he cares too much, kind of like someone just trying to pass off knowledge by saying as little as possible except generic questions.. He also stares at Skullface for 5 minutes straight when he finally meets him, those rocks in his head probably gave him brain damage and he forgot why he was even there.

Probably part of the reason Konami cut Kojima off.

The man spent literally millions making a game with so few quality of life elements and so many obvious, rookie mistakes that it boogles my mind. How in the hell is this the same guy and team that made the previous metal gear games.

It actually shocks me because the most pace-breaking element of MGS, those 20 minute long cutscenes and codex calls, are absent in V. Yet there are so many little things that keep you from engaging with the stealth action.

I don't recall one single location in MGSV that was as fun or engaging to sneak through as the Marine base in GZ. So, I don't think I'll ever return to it over say MGS 2, 3, 1, or even 4.

Seems like Kojima has gone senile, or really just was sick of making games, he needs to move on to hollywood already, I am sure his Death Standing game will be terrible.

It's a shame I used to like Kojima back in the day but he's really gone to shit since. Not surprisingly with MGS5 being bad though, MGS4 was also fucking garbage. 1, 2 and 3 are the only good games in the whole series.

the game should've just been fully about PTSD. PTSD venom never experienced, PTSD about his old memories, PTSD like the guilt he has over paz and chico's death, PTSD about all the stress of having to be big boss and deal with all the death around him.

The themes were too shallow and there were too many of them in this game, and almost none of them get fleshed out. I wouldve preferred a more straightforward game doing a smaller set of things averagely instead of a bad game trying to do everything at once badly.

Infinite Heaven hands down. Learn how to set it up and get over the stupid menu it has to use, then tweak it to your liking.

That, The Sniper Wolf outfit without the blonde and choker, and the real weapon names thing (despite being half finished) is literally all I need.

No one's managed to reverse engineer the AI route files and tables, so you can't add or mod npcs.

AI behavior mods are totally off the table because it's baked into the denuvo protected executable, so we'll never be able to add or modify AI routines or add new factions.

Silent Hills was really damn good despite being a repeating hallway and it was the best Silent Hill thing to be released since SH 3.

There are parts of me that think he and his team just grossly managed MGSV. There is no way that a veteran game studio should've fucked this up without complete management failure. This game already had its concept, backstory, and central gameplay focus laid out by the others in the series, yet it took more than two years to make and it came out with this many obvious design oversights, bloat, and tedium.

Even if you could add them hypothetically, it would be pretty damn limited.

Other mods for the game already prove the engine can only handle so many npcs in an area before the game crashes. Then again if you could mess around with that code in the .exe, one could probably fix that too.

I'm around the 40 hr mark and I've started playing more lethal and care free. on main missions I usually try to be stealth and use tranq and cqc only but for instance I shot my way out that mission where you have to escort the child soliders to the chopper.

I also mass murdered the entire airport in Africa after doing that side op where you have to rescue the people in the high ground. not sure how much that fucker up my good/evil meter but it was super fun.

Chapter 2 is shit

S rank stands for Speed not skill

Dont bother with the sideops at once, they absolutely murder your enjoyment of the game.

The game has a morality system but it doesn't matter until you kill 400 people, and then you just fulton 20 kids and you're okay.

Infiltrate at night most of the time

Sneaking suit is really good

Fulton most dudes by tranq'ing them

Don't play the game in long spurts (it has a lot of mechanics designed to annoy you over a long play session).

It's not user friendly at all but if we were psychic and you knew exactly what to do even before starting the game up for the first time, I'd tell you to install IH right away and skip some of the BS.

But it's not too user friendly and you have to experiment with it even when the settings are laid out for you.

THAT SAID if you ever play this a second time or restart this round, install that mod and just enable everything--optional patrols, all enemy/heavy variants, all vehicles and reinforcements, the works--and set enemy sight lines and hearing to realistic values so that they see you clear across fields and large valleys in the day and hear you in the area if you run around or trip over shit.

It brings actual strategy into the mix but it's also tough to s rank and frustrating if you screw up.

Don't expect anything elaborate or intricate

Things like being able to shoot a guards radio to cut him off from his crew or hurting their individual limbs are absent

In fact, if one guard catches you ALL of them are INSTANTLY alerted and aware of your exact location until you hide (They are all telepathic, apparently)

Also don't use Quiet or D-Dog, they play the game for you and there's already no content in the game whatsoever

Also the intro sequence is the most interesting part of the entire game so it's nice of them to put that up front for us

Absolutely NUCLEAR at the start, but as I realized it was all a ruse, I slowly played in non-lethal borderline silly ways to get stuff done.

It was then I learned that smoke grenades were probably one of the best items in the game if you go for stealth+non-lethal.

I think it's a percentage.

So you enable the feature and then set it either to the IH preset or "custom" or something, and then you can alter the distribution of the weapons and equipment like machineguns, shotguns, rifles, NVGs, heavy armor, shields, etc..

There are loads of menus buried in other menus though so it's a freaking pain to navigate but there's like no other way to do a custom interface in the game apparently.
