There's a limit to the number of actions you perform in a certain amount of time. Spamming flasks count as actions. Holding down the mouse to move count as many actions. Those are just some examples. I haven't played in a long time, so I don't know what cheese builds are popular now, but generally only the cheese builds had trouble with this, e.g. wormblaster

I pressed a total of 4 keystrokes and I didn't do so rapidly. I haven't recently changed my gear and I was able to use the gear I'm currently using just fine for over 9 days without any issue.

People cheat because they want to sell currency and items on RMT sites and turn their botting into a tangible profit. GGG bans you for botting because 1. it wastes bandwidth and 2. everyone is pretty certain the reason why RMT spam has been a consistent problem in PoE chat is because GGG is taking kickbacks from the RMT sites while making RMT "bannable" to drive up the price, and botting devalues the items so it cuts into their profits.
