I have Eirika at least, and she does tank the mage and red sword enough, but then the lancer gets too close to her and I can't really deal with that using anything that Xander or the green mage won't one shot in the following turn. Or worse yet, Xander will just one round her himself.

Yeah, you'd need to send in Eirika alone, get her as close to the red sword as possible, and then on the next turn delete the lancer. I used a green mage and a dancer.

After the lancer is dead attack Xander with a bulky Blue. The healer should move up to heal him on their turn, blocking the green mage from attacking your blue unit, and will continue to attack Eirika.

That was my strat. The problem is, the AI might totally do different things for you.

I did it with 4* Gwen, 4* Draug, 4* Sheena and 4* Effie the first time with minimal trouble by harvesting 3 enemy stages without magic damage. You're slightly worse off than I was, but it should be doable if you actually just try it, especially considering the generous time limit.

I did cavs with Reinhardt, 2 4* Cecilias and a fucking level 1 4* Xander stuck in the corner. Fliers I also essentially did with 3 units since the fourth was a shitty 4* Caeda at level 30. It's easier than it seems.

The best 4th unit would be Bunny Camilla, but since you didn't lsit her I'll assume you don't have her.

That being the case you're really gonna be pressed for options as most flying units already step on each others toes. and you already have a decent tank in Michalis if you kept his shield.

My opinion? I would grab Tsubaki. It would give you another tank of a different color just in case the need arises, but you can grab any other flying unit really.

I really wish I got a S. Camilla. I've heard that she's amazing just as is on top of being the only flying magic user currently. Subaki could work out, although I'd probably have to give him a different lance. He's got the defenses to tank Gens so maybe he'd make more use from Est's Heavy Lance.

There's really not that many good flyers. Beruka can hit hard and can take a hit but doesn't have enough HP to tank an Archer, and Caeda, the only other flying red unit, pails in comparison to Palla.

Other than Michalis, Beruka's the only flying axe user I got. I haven't gotten many good flyers. I've gotten a bunch of Subakis and Ests and Cordelia is the only good flyer I got out of a roll. I'm closer to a caviler meme team than I am a flying one.

On the subject of that though, what's a good team for that? I know I'm gonna have Eliwood be the head of it, but who would be some good team members? All the viable cavilers I got are Fredrick, Gunter, Jagen, Reinhardt, and Clarine. I actually got several extra Jagens, 2 extra Eliwoods, and a spare Gunter so I was thinking of inheriting one of their caviler buffs to others, like Gunter's Hone Cavalier to Freddy and Eliwood's Goad Cavalier to Clarine.

Honestly, both he and Ryouma function exactly the same when you get down to it. Fury/Vantage might be their best sets if you're planning to milk Distant Counter for all its worth, as it ensures that no green will want to attack into them without ensuring that they will OHKO them (which is basically only Horse Emblem Cecilia and Flier Emblem SCamilla). Ryouma's res advantage is meaningless because he dies to the same exact things Ike does in one round.

Ryouma's advantage is his speed. This lets him guarantee ORKOs under his optimal nature (+SPD/-RES) without needing a Hone Speed, unlike Ike. Player phase offense is important, which is probably the reason why he slightly edges out Ike as a unit.

That being said, Ike's a superior Vantage tank because he can grab a few KOs off attackers that Ryouma just barely misses (unless Ryouma is +ATK, but then his speed isn't as great). Nino and Julia have absolutely no way of winning once he's in Vantage range, and only Spring Camilla can probably survive a counter if he doesn't have Luna/Draconic Aura up. He dies to Blue mages, but everybody dies to Thundercock anyway so it's no big deal.

One Anon claimed that Ryoma with SB beats Ike. Another said Ike still wins. Neither does if they're both vanilla other than SB on Ryoma. Period. And before you derp again about how that wouldn't happen, presumably because of SI, keep in mind that SI negates the first part of your post. Heavy Blade isn't exclusive to Ike. It can be passed and so can Aether. If we're talking SI, Ryoma has 1 less base Atk than Ike's "huge attack" but 4 more base Spd, the latter being significant because Heavy Blade is actually much better when a unit doubles more reliably. Granted an optimal Heavy Blade Ryoma needs to be +Atk like an optimal Ike, instead of the usual +Spd, but it's still trading 1 Atk for 4 Spd. A 34 base Atk stat with a 16 Might weapon is more than enough to effectively run Heavy Blade.

Ryoma can run Ike's set and sets that Ike can't because of his lower Spd. And Xander can get cav buffs. Ike has no niche over them, not even with his higher physical bulk compared to Ryoma (who has better magic bulk, in a mage meta). Sure, he has a niche inside it -- but so does Cecilia/Ursula/Olwen, who all suck shit on their own and need specific comps just to actually function. Ike has the advantage of being able to have actual merges and not having to be locked into a meme cav team just to be effective. Xander no doubt beats him with a full range of cav buffs, but he can't function as well as Ike outside of it.

Also, Ryoma's magic bulk means shit when he's KOed by the very same threats Ike is in this mage meta, so his only real advantage is his superior speed for player phase kills. That's it.

Actually, so far they have complimented pretty well. Olivia and Nino have Hone Atk, Nowi has Hone Speed, Hector is fully SI'd with +Def, Bonfire and Vantage and Olivia has Wings of Mercy.

One useful niche for Ike is that Kagerou cannot OHKO him and will die to the counter 99% of the time. The only way she can is by being a +Attack version that runs LaD3 with the Attack seal and with a Hone Attack 3 buff. Even then, she still can't KO a Fury 3 HP+3 seal Ike and will die (or the Ike is a +Def variant). It's something that Ryoma cannot replicate either.

Olivia and Nowi both have access to either Iceberg or Bonfire, giving them +13. Especially useful since Nowi has Distant Counter weapon.
Nowi could also use Draconic Aura giving her +15 since she's also obviously +4 Atk buffed from the Nino or Olivia.
Of course Nino is never proccing her special, but since you seem infatuated with the idea of turning her into a little glass cannon you can dance for two actions, adding a single CD charge from Draconic Aura is no big deal at all and instead of doing +6 damage from your shitass special, you're doing +22.

I don't know man you keep trying to say Nino is bad when the only other competing units are Julia, fully SI Cecilia, and fully SI Spring Camilla (both of the latter using Nino's tome.)

Even when Cecilia fully buffed, she has like +4-5 more attack, similar other stats, and 13-15 less speed, when compared to a non buffed Nino.
Only thing she has over her is +1 movement and can be buffed an extra 8 points in her weapon thanks to being cavalry.

She works fine for me, just look.
