I finally convinced myself to get a gaming PC. How does this build look? Any suggestions? The monitor is not included

Get an SSD. Other than than and the liquid cooling it looks good.
>>375964268
What this anon said, I'd forget the liquid cooling and get an SSD instead in addition to the other drive. Also I'm not sure why you're getting a WiFi adapter, I would 100% always recommend being hard wired if possible
only playing games? max budget? preferred resolution/refresh rate?
>>375963790
There's an evil demon staring at me from inside of that computer.
>>375964680
Only playing games on it. My max budget is $1600. I'm a computer noob, so I don't know preference for that

1080p/60fps is standard. With a GTX1080 you could go higher though. Next step up would be 1440p and/or 144fps.

Summer get out, we're having a meaningful discussion here

Fuck off with the i5, if you're doing the 1080, go with a better CPU, shits a pain in the dick to swap out later plus it'll make a ton of difference.
As others have said, get an SSD.
Also, the 16GB RAM is nice, but 8GB is really all that is needed, the performance boost isn't that amazing, esp on a budget
>>375965625
How long is a build usually good for? How often do I need to upgrade components? I might go with the GTX1080
>>375965308
can't unsee
>>375965818
What is the big difference between the two? If it keeps me from having to deal with the ass pain of swapping parts, I'll definitely go with this
>>375965839
the first component you usually replace is the gpu. Wait to see how AMD's vega performs in a few weeks, otherwise a 1080 should last you a few years.
>>375965839
A good build can last you years, if you're not obsessed with always having top of the line parts. My first PC lasted me almost twice as long as the average console generation, and only barely started showing It's age by the time I replaced it. A $1600 build should last you a while if you spend it wisely.
>>375965982
Your graphics card could bottleneck your CPU. And yeah, that would be smart. You can always add RAM sticks later. To replace your CPU it sucks, might as well start with a great one for like $100 more and save $100 on excess RAM
>>375963857
>spending that much on a mobo
jesus christ most I spent was 110 on a gigabyte z270
>>375963790
Nice nerd machine.
>>375966630
What does bottlenecking the CPU mean?
>>375967031
that i5 is going to get bogged down by a 1080. consider getting an i7 instead.
>>375967031
In layman terms, The CPU won't catch up with the graphic's card performance and then the graphics card is going to have to wait for the CPU to respond.
>>375967353
Will upgrading to the i7 fix this?
>>375967545
an i5 is not going to bottleneck a 1080. If all you're doing is gaming an i5 will be plenty
I don't know shit about computers. What is the difference between a Gtx 1080, 1070, and a 1060?
>>375967708
It might not, but why not spend the extra money and future-proof his GPU better? If you're spending 1600 on a computer why cheap out on one of the most important components?
>>375968383
CPU better*
>>375963790
>He fell for the i5 meme
Lol. It's not 2013 anymore.
>>375965528
Realistically, how well would the lowest build on that chart run?
>>375965818
>Fuck off with the i5, if you're doing the 1080, go with a better CPU, shits a pain in the dick to swap out later plus it'll make a ton of difference.

this pretty much
>>375966113
>Wait to see how AMD's vega performs in a few weeks
don't do this OP. because then you'll just end up waiting for it, then you wait some more to make sure there's not problem with g1 of it and then suddenly it's 2-3 months later.
Just get a 1080/1070 depending on what resolution you are planning on playing on
>>375967838
Basically, higher number runs better.

Mouse over the box for "destitute".
>>375968383
an older i5 might bottleneck it but not a newer one. I'm not even saying he shouldn't get the i7. Just that he shouldn't get it because someone on 4chan fed him misinformation
>>375969097
Not too shabby. I personally would go with Intel but its all down to preference. Good prices and will last ya for awhile.
