Indiana Jones.

>Games similar to UNCHARTED:
Another World
Tomb Raider (series), namely Legend, Anniversary, Underworld: The two new reboots are far more similar to Uncharted but not as good.
Bionic Commando 2009 if you really like grapple hook swinging.
Max Payne 3

>Games similar to THE LAST OF US:
Resident Evil 4
Half-Life 2
Deadlight
The Evil Within

>half-life 2
>RE4

Only in the vaguest sense are those two games anything like TLoU

Max Payne 3

that scenario where Joel gets impaled is extremely reminiscent of a couple missions in MP3 when Max gets all fucked up

The Last of Us has the spirit of Half-Life 2's walking talking narrative with lots of environmental storytelling. Both games are set-piece driven shooters in dire world infested with zombies. Both have a female companion. Both share a lot of the same tricks: Playing both, the inspiration is quite obvious.
Resident Evil 4 was a very influential slow-paced zombie third person shooter where you escort a girl. Quick time events, context sensitive melee attacks, and the conscious effort to make the game feel like a television show/film make the two games similar.
I'd even recommend Gears of War, honestly.

Are there any scary games that work the same as these ones? I want to play a horror game but I like the idea of just bring along for the ride, not exploring and puzzle solving like a lot of other horror games
>>
>>375964929
Okay but those are still only very surface-level similarities. HL2's setting, story, setpiece design and even gunplay are completely different. The zombies aren't really a huge aspect of it in the grand scheme of things, the Combine is the bigger focus.

Same deal with RE4, the gunplay feels a lot different, there's way more enemy variety, the story is way cheesier, and there's hardly any stealth to speak of. The setpieces are also more over-the-top.

There's a couple of elements that you could argue TLoU borrows from piecemeal but as a holistic experience they're very, very different games in terms of how they play.

re4
dead space 1 and 2
the evil within
are all similar "walk this linear path while shooting enemies and upgrading your shit on the way"
>>
>>375965636
Jesus Christ then, the only game that'll fit your bill is The Last of Us Part 2, except maybe not since there's a "2" in the title. Maybe if OP would specify what he liked about the games we could help him. Stupid ass /wsr/ threads.

I'm in complete agreement with the other guy. No game has been as similar as HL2 as TLOU. I would go as far as to say that even HL1 isn't as similar, that's how crazy it is. TLOU and HL2 both have human enemies combined with "zombie" enemies. They both have horror elements, but are not horror games themselves. Even though HL2 is a shooter and TLOU is not, TLOU is probably the most blatant "inspiration" of HL2 that I've ever seen. It's pretty egregious at times. One of the final levels where you have to go through that highway in TLOU reminded me so much of HL2, it became clear that Naughty Dog deliberately wanted to make the their game similar.

Calm your tits, the Evil Within was a good suggestion which is why I didn't mention that one.

What's with the fucking walking and downtime in TLOU? I'm enjoying the stealth sections with the clickers and all that but all the fucking downtime and dragging containers and grabbing planks is grinding my fucking gears

I hate how you're right, it's such a shame since I'm really liking the gameplay parts where you actually have to sneak past a group of clickers/runners but everytime nothing's happening and you're just walking it just gets so fucking boring. Fucking hell, there's not even any music.
>>
>>375967306
I didn't bother. Those sections are very short. You have to move the ladder/plank 2 times at most.
>>
>>375967619
Compared to TLoU? It's about the same, quality-wise, maybe slightly worse. TLoU is decent but it's not some untouchable masterpiece.
>>
>>375967662
Exactly. People meme on this game for being a movie, but that shit has me feeling like it's more of a workprint if that's the case. Druckmann having free reign over Part II has my expectations at rock bottom after even Uncharted 4 had them.

You are right, they're short but they're very frequent. After a stealth section you get downtime, then you get into a room with runners, then dragging containers, then more downtime, keep in mind I'm not that far in the game so maybe it'll change.
>>375968609
Didn't Druckmann work on 1 as well? Or was Hemmig working on it too?
>>
>>375969294
No I think it was him and someone else cowriting it. Supposedly some HBO guy is doing some writing for it, but Druckman has the final word.
